    Default Feelings Toward Annversary

There have been a number of threads regarding the Anniversary Gifts and events. I find myself very indifferent this year and feel that this time of year should be exciting for the game find it just another day to log in and play. As a result I would love to see some responses to what people feel about this years anniversary.

I think the fact that they only gave 2 cakes per account is what really soured the event. Sure the items weren't things that made made you jump and shout with joy, but when they had made the anniversary cakes 1 per person in the past, people thought it would be the same this year. I guess the sense of entitlement is getting the best of some of us, but if your gonna throw a memorable party, don't just bring out Dixie cups and kool aid. and invite a few friends. Splurge a little and invite all your friends.

Okay I was underwhelmed by the Free Gift but more because of the 2/per account issue than the reward list. I am still after all this time an altoholic and nothing is going to change that for me. And honestly, I really enjoy the Anniversary Quest. I love that they made small changes to the event and hope that they continue to do so each year going forward. I love searching all the nooks and crannies for more hidden Easter Eggs.

The quest itself is a slightly 4th wall breaking microcosm of the DDO game world, so the more tongue-in-cheek jokes they add, the more hidden hats-off, the more cameos and easter eggs the better for my personal enjoyment.

Some of the changes this year included:
Nohbob (as the workman too busy to play)
    Cordovan's Bee fixation
    Torc the Rustmonster
    Kobold Foreman (on strike)
    Mysterious Package (gift from Ravenloft)
    Nibbles
New gnome girl at the Coin Lord's table.

Am I tremendously excited for this anniversary? Mmm not exactly. Am I enjoying myself? Hell yeah or I wouldn't be here.

Too much focus on gifts, when the real fun is in the event. We could have just had the even IMO without the gifts, because it's an 11th. A 15th would be special enough for free gifts. Don't misjudge me, I'm very happy with the free gifts, but am moar geeked on the event (and getting collectables). The event/challenge is a nice break from the normal day to day.

Definitely a missed opportunity. They certainly shouldn't have tried to match the scope of last years Anniversary, but they could have at least given all characters regular old 11 Year Old Cake, with a list that matched the 6 Year Old version.

A little bit surprised that there's nothing reaper related in the anniversary list. A flat 100k reaper xp bomb would be pushing it, but something like a 6 hour +75% reaper xp elixir (paused outside of reaper quests) would have been a nice shiny option.

Thread will most likely be closed.

Before that happens here is my opinion.

I expected more from first ddo anniversary with SSG being free from their former overlords rule.
Xp is ok-ish reward i guess

I'm kind of glad to see Monty Haul stayed at Turbine to tell you the truth.

I'm hoping we get little nerfs here and there that cover some of the power creep and AI issues that developed from 2012 onwards as Turbine dumbed down the game so that anybody could play it easily.

Unfortunately the poll does not offer any option that'd represent my attitude.

    Something like:
"The anniversary and gifts are OK. Thanks SSG."

One stop shopping. I'm even recalling not worried for party favour or exp after first dozen runs.
Thank you for the easy farm.

I disagree with him too, but you did ask for input. No need to be rude to someone who does not share your opinion.

I was excited about the upcoming Anniversary. When I learned of the 2/account limitation, my heart sunk. I try to tell myself that D&D is about hard choices. At best, assuming I choose the BtA items, I can share the wealth with my characters on 2/8 servers.

It helps to remind myself that most of these items can be easily farmed, but I have always been the kind of kid who would rather unwrap five boxes of five crayons instead of one box of 25.

I am not as focused on gift rewards at others but I very much understand the disappointment. The 2014 and 2016 anniversary gifts were very good. Yet, it is something else that bothers me.

Over the last two days I made 32 runs of the Anniversary Party on Khyber. Sometimes I did not see another person for hours at a time as I hung out in House Phiarlan. This morning, the very first weekend of the event, I only saw a handful of people near the Anniversary Party entrance.

I think back to the opening of Night Revels in 2015. That event featured 4 new (if short) dungeons and a whole slew of new items including some obviously designed for glamering. There were tons of people parked around Joe Candymaker for the duration of the event. The 2016 Night Revels added two new dungeons, some new cosmetics, and a new creature companion. Once again I saw many people parked around Joe Candymaker, especially at the beginning of the event.

The developers have the formula for success. In only takes a few quick dungeons with high replay value and a few new baubles each year to bring people out. Yet again and again they turn these events back on without a single decent new item at the trader. How long does it really take to make a new creature companion reskin, or draw a new cosmetic outfit, or make a new and relevant piece of equipment?

I would like to see a standing order from Severlin that every event from now on will include, at the absolute minimum, five new items--creature companions, cosmetics, augments, equipment, potions, whatever. The goal should be that every event include at least one new, desirable item for each and every player to _earn_.

I didn't log on until 4 or 5 hours after the Anniversary opened, but since then I haven't seen House P with more than 1 instance on Khyber. Usually only see a handful of players standing around outside Partycrashers.

The first day I did 2 runs and stopped. Last night I did the last 10 runs to get my helf ranger his bling hat. He looks dorky now and would look a little cooler if the hat didn't cover the points in his ears :/

There's nothing else there for me to care to get. Half thought the armor, but CC and named is better now. Great place though to farm easy collectibles or xp/min.

You are the one choosing not to play alts.

Casual player now investing way less than I used to into the game, playing 1-3 months at a time and still want nothing to do with Reaper. #improvepuggrouping#alldifficultiesmatter

Out of the reward choices there wasn't much I was interested in and I choose Comms and Spinal Tap myself.

I think they could have been better but definitely weren't useless. Probably better for new players than people who have been playing a while.

A single choice per character would have been nice, I would have even liked to have seen some of the choices a few of the epic (seal/scroll/shard) items along with some of the Level 20 Evening Star hand ins.

I think you have this spot on and I am confident that many people would be more than satisfied with this.

Personally, I would settle for 2 new rewards per event each year and be relatively happy. Events being: Anniversary, Crystal Cove, Festivult, Risia, Midwinter, Mimic (Mating Season?), and Mabar/Night Revels. That would be 14 new event rewards per year at max depending on if you count the Mimic Event as possibly recurring and if you count Festivult, Midwinter and Risia separately.

They could choose to lump Festivult, Midwinter and Risia together and add one new reward to each, each season; then if they bring back the Mimic event that would be 11 new event rewards each year. Still not a poor result.

I do NOT count the Festival of the Traveler because it is the only event that almost requires store purchase to participate (Tokens of the Traveler). Sure they give a few free tokens, but the first year it was 5 or 10 per character and then the last year or year before last it was what? 5 per account? Ridiculous. I also don't count the DeGenev Brothers.

It was a bit underwhelming. While it was nice to have Spinal Tap in the list (I can finally stop numbing my brain with dualbox ToEE farming), many of the item options left me thinking "Wha...?" I mean, seriously. Black Widow Bracers? Those things have been useless ever since armor bonus started coming on robes/outfits, and they're hilariously easy to farm up if you DO want a pair!

Admittedly, part of the disappointment was compared to the 10th anniversary list having so many good items on it. I can understand not wanting to top it, but this year was the total opposite.

I opened the other one for comms, but I'll still have to run nonexistent CitWs and FoTs on Sarlona to upgrade my Sireth. (groan)

My answer in the poll isn't accurately represented. I got some toys, but I also took some comms and some XP. I'm more than just a little relieved that I didn't have to spend two days getting rewards. Given the current climate on the forums regarding power creep, I found the items to be appropriately middle of the road, even if I had all, or most of them that I wanted. The dungeon is fun, however, nothing like beating up the devs for more toys.
