You see what you are doing right there? Essentially it is something called Necro... It means you are taking old dead theads and attempting to revive them. Stop that, please. That's illegal!

You are the reason people add 'how-to' guides on Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Reaper failed because it quickly fell away from its primary goal - to enhance content not replace it. Reaper sounded like it was an adventure plugin for the elite players to challenge their skill set. Within months, reaper became the new epic elite. This skewed the power curve across the board. Now everything is geared for reaper play. In addition, the devs keep making reaper easier...what happen to "we are trying to kill you" methodology? Granted, it was a lazy attempt, but that is another topic all together.

I think the main issue with reaper, barring 1 shot kills, is that generally players dont heal eachother much if your in a pug, you can go whistle. If your with guildies generally your ok as they do heal.
As so many people play reaper it can be hard to get groups as the LFM's are reaper, so you end up either waiting for guildies, solo'ing or joining reaper groups and ghosting it after you cant keep up with the 8 hit points from a cure serious pot.
My guildies feel the same, if they would get rid of the reduced self healing then you can rely on yourself more as a melee, as one of my guildies said, ddo is just not that enjoyable anymore on my melee's.
And yes you have a choice etc etc blah blah blah, but the game slowly dies if there are not enough groups, and if people are solo'ing heroics rather than playing reaper because they cant get healed in pugs, then there are alot less groups around.
Get rid of the self heal penalty and if you wanted to make it harder dont do the mana point drops.
Cannith Server
I think this was put in to "improve teamwork" - what it actually does is either nothing or sideline certain classes into performing the healing role because others don't have the capability.
For fixed groups with someone who wants to play a healbot, it works well enough. For PUGs or fixed groups without a healbot, it forces characters to behave differently from how they naturally would.
As a Cleric in PnP I could and did heal, but that was an extra on top of main purpose (which varied with the deity that character served). Keeping an eye open for healing in PnP was a far easier task than keeping an eye open in DDO. So essentially this part of Reaper was designed specifically with taking the fun away from characters with healing abilities whose preferred role wasn't primary healer in mind.

yes....reaper pretty bad.
Reaper is nothing but a way to sell uneeded power creep.
The heal amp nerf does not promote grouping, just hurt some classes.
Remove the heal amp nerf, remove the reaper trees and remove EDF from the game.
I don't like reapers for a zillion reasons, none of the ones in the OP.
The biggest was - It was just a lazy way to make more higher level 'content'.
I like my high level content to be high level content, not low level content on steroids.
Ppl required a permadeath server even beeing able to play permadeath in any server.
Next server is going to be a "play naked" server.
Thats just all quests in r10 but because players cant remove their items in any server....
Heal amp nerf should be removed in reaper, it does nothing to improve the game at all.
Reaper level where never added to 'improve' the game.
It was a pacifier for power-gamers who kept up a constant stream of "this is too easy" rolling through the forums.
NOBODY asked for Reaper levels, they asked for NEW harder content.
They got recycled old content.
I find it humorous how the power-gamers got duped.
For me, reaper levels are not worth my time. I solo mostly so
I might as well have my toon jump into lava ... same effect.
You miss a save..you die.
The only thing that needs to be done to fix reaper at this point is to remove the reaper avatars, giving their special abilities to random champions instead, and removing the souls mana bubbles from the game.
That would make reaper harder overall and particularly harder for mana using classes, which is way overdue.
We're getting pretty close to a DDO >>> DDO2 transition without replacing the main client in the process. Having a difficulty level that actually required grouping and team play again would be a big step in that direction. The reaper changes proposed above would help in that regard.
