Default The (Re)Rise of the Clonk?

So, is there room for Clonk characters again with the rise of Reaper difficulty?

A classic Cleric 18 / Monk 2 build? Bonus Wisdom/Dodge/Saves from Ocean Stance...

Or perhaps something a little more melee orientated, say 15 Cleric / 5 Monk? 30+ AP in Shintao to pick up Empty Handed Mastery, and then Stunning Fist / Kukan-Do for some Wis-based CC?

Thoughts? Ideas? GTFO and go back to the Melee Forums?

Long time ago armor was useless. Evasion was the most effective way of elemental damage protection. So /monk2 made sense. Extra saves, 2 extra feats (only combat and survivability related, but Toughness was on the "must have list") and basic(free_ water stance gives +2 wis so not having capstone was not a bit loss.

"Armor up" changed this. No need to splash for evasion to have good survivability. /Monk2 is now more a "choice", not a "must have".

I don't thing Reaper changes anything when it comes to Clonk. If you want /Monk2, do it. But not because of Reaper.

U28 balance pass changed it again, though. By eliminating armor MRR, suddenly Evasion (+ good Reflex saves ofc) became useful again. Reaper probably makes damage avoidance thru high Dodge + Incorporealty more important than before and the PRR buffs in Shintao + Henshin make monks more viable vs heavy armor toons. So I would expect to see a lot more monk 6-based toons. Everything old is new again!

If playing a Cleric I would go for a Light build and spam Holy Smite for the AOE blinding effect. Anything which does damage and has a CC component I think does well - certainly at the lower levels of Reaper.

For Sorcs and Wizards it is Electric Loop as a great option.

For higher levels you would be wanting CC and Insta-kills, so again I would think an Evo-focussed Cleric with Implosion would be handy.

Well, I been mulling over melee clerics
Running aura of course is tier5
So you go either armor or evasion
The tanks are going to need the cleric to be close
So I see pally clerics with hamp LGS maces
    And clonks with stunning fist
See, at least the clonk has cc
    Neither really have dps
I would say the pally at 15/4/1
    And the clonk at 18/2
The clonk may be more useful, but squishier
    And then there's ranged clerics
    Like I'm running
    Won't have aura until 20
And then I get to play tag standing in melee range for the tanks
    Gonna see how that works
But cc with paralyzers works sweet in reaper
But I'm thinking as great as it is
Being melee is where it's gonna be
And I was thinking more pure cleric might have its advantages
    Implosion and greater aura
And stunning fist is so awesome
But I'm afraid for not improved evasion...

Maybe one of each on a team...
