Default Suggestion - Reduce Reaper Self Healing De-buff when NO Reapers are present

    So...

After having ran several quests on Reaper mode - I like them more than I was expected. They do add a sense of danger and fear of death.
By far the most interesting times in when a Reaper is running around.

After the reaper fight - it gets a little boring chugging pots / etc to heal yourself back to full before moving on.
This doesn't' had add fun or danger and doesn't really affect resources....

    So...

Leave the self-healing de-buff as is when Reapers are present

AND reduce / remove the self healing de-buff when the are not around.

This should keep quests fast pace and dangerous, but remove some of the slow & boring time spent licking ones wounds before moving on...

    this..

    actually..

    makes..

    sense..

    to me.

    I could compromise with that.

now the next step is figure out how to challenge players without mobs doing stupid high damage and calling it "challenge" and than maybe I would give Reaper a try.

Casual player now investing way less than I used to into the game, playing 1-3 months at a time and still want nothing to do with Reaper. #improvepuggrouping#alldifficultiesmatter

No, I disagree because it goes against the purpose of reaper mode. And actually, aren't we tired of trying to make this game as easy as possible? We had daily LE raiding before reaper so don't take away the new challenge reaper presents, and give healers a chance to come back if it will even happen.

Reapers aren't present too often. They aren't present even during the boss beatdowns. I am very happy with how it is right now because it ads a lot of teamplay. Healing in between the fights is easy. Just target someone from the party, heal and then recieve a heal from someone else. Some people still aren't used to it and don't want to change their habits but they will get there.

part of the reason for this is that a healer can have issues healing themselves...

Esp at lower levels and depending party make up / class mix - a off-healer to heal the healer can be hard to find...

A cleric, 2 fighters, monk, and a barb walk into the bar...

Healer has to be careful and position himself out of the fights.

I agree the healing issue is problematic in the low levels.

It's not really hard to find an off-healer, I usually do on my Sorcerer playing in Exalted Angel. Cleric doesn't take too much damage if he is careful, throwing a Cocoon/Renew/Scroll can be done by anyone with some Positive Spell power.

    At lower levels I agree.

    I don't get it.

In a full party, it shouldn't be hard to find 2 people in the group capable of healing others to full without too much dificulty.

In a not-full party you already have a healing pot that requires no UMD, has full effect in reaper and is available in non-combat scenarios. It's called a cleric hireling. (or fvs, or bard). It also doubles as a large stack of out-of-combat raise dead scrolls.

Why do we have to change game mechanics for a problem that's not there?

Sorry but no, what you are asking for is to make reaper diff like elite, and reapor mobs like a healing debuff aura champs

Also the healer has no troubles selfhealing after let's say, a fear reaper, just takes more spells than expected, nlthing hard cause you're supposed to be out of enemies' range, if needed, pretty sure everybody can scroll heal the healer if needed
psykopeta is finally baconpletionist because there isn't anything to delay it more - thelanis, where the gimps claim to be pros and noobs claim to be pros, no newbies allowed(unless they claim to be pros), we have enough drama w/o them. Level 1-15 this wouldn't hurt, but at higher level out of combat healing can be done via heal scrolls.

At low level you can still use Cure Serious wands to keep any dedicated healing character alive though.

I do notice from running a bunch of heroic reaper that Enlightened Spirit Warlocks basically ignore the healing debuff, because they have Shining Through which isn't technically a heal and so works at 100%.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

So True! I'll never forget pugging Tear of Dhakaan a few years ago as one of 3 rangers...the other two hadn't bothered to bring any pots and were in constant risk of dying. After their first few deaths I acted as "cleric" for the group wand whipping everyone.

Another way to handle the healing debuff in reaper: Run an undead wizard! Your negative energy healing from death aura and Neg energy burst are not reduced by the self healing debuff. It's probably an error on their part, and something that should be fixed to maintain the challenge. Though I could see how it wouldn't be. Not many clerics or FvS run around with inflict spells slotted, really.

    I am for this idea.

The self healing debuff is currently the only thing I dislike about reaper.

.... and all of those self healing builds out there still refuse to heal other players...so.......yeah.

I understand why they nerfed self healing, but now that reaper is a way of life, it kills builds that have invested in self healing.

in theory those builds can heal others.
In reality.... I am the only non healer who seems to heal others....

(plenty of people do raise others... but not heal them....)

The self-healing debuff makes it impossible to use a cleric or other divine for anything BUT nannybotting the rest of the group, so yes, signed. Anything to make it less tedious to use a class feature.

As someone who only gets the chance to play very irregularly (and often at odd hours) but who still seeks a good challenge, I would love to see this, at least in the lower skull difficulties.

I used to power game, 40+ hours a week, so I still love a good challenge. But thanks to work, family, and other commitments, I am now lucky to play 2-3 hours a week, and often at times when few other people are online. I try to group, but it often extremely difficult even to get 1-2 other people together, and knowing I will be interrupted within the hour, I don't have time to wait around. So if I don't solo or duo, often that means I don't get to play.

I've been trying reaper out lately, and I am reinvigorated by the new challenge. The game gets boring after years and years of being able to run most quests with your eyes closed. But the self-healing debuff just makes it tedious, at least at the lower levels where I've been playing lately. It saps any of the excitement added by the challenge right back out.

Please consider removing the self-healing debuff at lower skull levels, at the VERY least for spells. If you want to keep it on potions, wands, and scrolls, that's fine. But as somebody who specifically builds characters to be able to self-heal, by sacrificing other abilities and DPS, knowing that my grouping opportunities are limited, I'd like to be able to tackle the challenge of reaper reaper more than I currently do.

Ah back to the days when a party had to stick together and support each other to succeed in a quest. Personally they should remove the self healing entirely from the Epic Destinies, and leave it just as spells, scrolls, wands, and potions for self healing. That is my opinion though, others will have a different opinion. No class or build should be completely self sufficient and not need anyone else to complete a quest.

I don't mind the self healing debuff, wish people could not solo everything and play with other people.

I do mind the unlimited through walls and in completely separate areas of the map Fear Reapers though.

as stated earlier. in 95% of situationss if you are solo a park-n-pull heal station hire solves all your problems and is ridiculously inexpensive.

sure some quests it is more challenging to keep a hire working well and not smearing, hire management skilz are a thing.
