    Default Monk Dream

Since they've spparently made "Cats" high-value stick fighters, any plans in the works to "un-screw" wrap monks, after that "Nerf Heroic Monks to Fix EPIC L29+ Monks" fiasco?

Removing DnD canon Monk damage and giving them +5 HIT (useless) was pretty much a "Chad-level" move.

You're a bit off on your timeline. They got rid of 3.5e PnP monk damage progression in 2012 (U14) with the change to the n[W] damage dice. The additional later nerf is related to the thinking that handwraps already account for a +W mod in higher level versions both named and randomly generated.

Wrong timeline, look North a few years. )

U40: Monk Unarmed Strike now gives +1 to attack with handwraps instead of .5[W]. They removed 2.5W damage, replacing it with (+5) to Hit.

According to their "data", that nobody alive has ever seen, monks were doing "10% more damage than expected" while using certain L29 wraps.
So, obviously, hammering Heroic monks was the solution, because editing one set of wraps is hard. Tae-kwon-don't. )

    If you include this

then of course someone will think of the U14 nerf, instead of the U40 (as +0.5[W] is definitely not monk cannon damage, but a DDO-only thing). Seriously, we all should know that the monk got so many nerfs, that we need to be very specific about which one we like to be undone. :P

As someone who played several monks (from TWF Ninja Spy, to Shuricannon, to handwraps, to henshin [with or without ki-focus], and kung-fu pandas), I can say, that monks don't have major problems in heroic, and it's more of a reaper problem for them than anything else (as light finisher carries you through elite, but you lack the ki to do the same in reaper). In fact, handwraps still are much better than actual TWF on a monk, so "fixing" ninja spy would be a much greater concern.

But overall, the monk needs more than a tweak or two, mostly because of jaring mechanics, unbalanced ki-cost, and a bit lost of purpose. So I'd rather wish that the sometimes mentioned monk pass gets done earlier, than to try to hotfix something, that can still manage and still got some game at least at endgame.

If we speak of monk dreams... for me, a Monk Tradition choice at 1st level. Make current monk "Way of the Four Elements", add traditions like for Mockery and Dol Dorn monks that have stances that specialize in use of kamas/longswords and own ki-attacks and finishers, light/dark attacks can stay as they are.
Several enhancements may need rework to encompass that system, but hey, we're talking about dreams now.
Nothing in this game is essential, unless you are a power-gaming & unimaginative lemming who follows everyone else, without having any form of creativity or original thought rolling around your brainpain...

You're right there, there's so many monk styles that aren't utilized, though a few would be hard to code. Heck, I'd like to see Nunchaku. )

Monks have scaling damage dice as they level, the +W damage was really the best way they could have coded it.
There was no problem with it for a decade. It didn't need nerf-batting to fix a "10%" endgame handwrap issue.

I don't expect them to add additional weapon types, but a monk style that uses Quarterstaff as a versatile weapon that could switch between THF and TWF (as a double weapon), to actually take advantage of the new melee style feats.
