Triple Heroic & Epic completionist. Eroic : 42/42 - Epic : 36/36 - Iconic : 12/12.
not really, you die before your spell expires anyway
(why shouldn't it work?)
Are there any CC spells that can extended? I cannot think of any?

Wiki is your friend.
But honestly this might be something the Devs should look at as frankly for many many players Extend has become a waste of a Feat Slot for most Caster builds {if not all}.
Remember that to take Extend in the first place Casters will generally have to lose something big in return - Would it be possible to allow Extend to work on CC Spells and the likes of Firewall/Blade Barrier in Reaper but not in C/N/H/E or Epic/Legendary?
You used to be able to use extend on spells that matter. They took that away long time ago.
I personally wouldn't mind that change too much, but I wouldn't say extend is a waste of a Feat Slot. At the very least it's still a long way ahead of eschew materials. I typically use extend on wizards (And yes I agree that taking it on casters that don't have 5 extra feats is hard to fit) to extend displacement and death aura, as well as rage/haste. Death aura/lesser death aura in particular both have to be replenished very very often without extend, so it dramatically cuts down on the times you forget to have death aura up during combat or having it run out while CCed, as well as saving decent chunks of SP by casting it once for 35 sp instead of twice for 25 sp both times.

Extend hasn't working on anything offensive in 5+ years.
Extend as an offensive spell feat was removed years ago.
Extend is now limited to buffs.
The value of Extend for spells that are 1 Minute per Caster Level diminishes over time as the time between casting and shrines/completions becomes less then the extended amount.
The value of Extend for spells that have shorter durations actually maintains or becomes more valuable as many of these spells without extend are in the 2 1/2 minute range, Spells like rage make it a bit higher. Extend gives these spells between 5 and 10 minutes on full casters.
Now for those builds that have partial levels Extend becomes more valuable based on the number of levels.
Each person needs to determine for themselves if Extend is needed and should also even when they have the Feat decide if Extend should be used for what they are casting. IE do I need more than 20 minutes of a Buff?
Now another important considerations are Arcane Augmentation as this can also add 1 or 2 Caster Levels which will give you more time, and at Epic Levels the ED of choice if it adds caster levels this will add up to 5 caster levels. I mention these as it is possible Extend has value for a build from 1 to 20, but loses that value from 20 to 30.
------------
Now there are two other types of considerations to keep in mind with Extend
1) Constant Death - Wipes out buffs. This can be costly as Extended spells never make it past the initial time amount into the extended time
2) Dispel effects - Wipes out buffs. Similar to Constant Death
3) Shrine availability - The more shrines available and especially when the distance between them is less or equal to the base time then there are no savings.
Well, then here is a discussion worth having.
In current DDO, if the Extend metamagic could effect Blade Barrier, Firewall, ect... would it make a huge difference in Heroics, Epic and Legendary? I'd say probably not, especially because it eats a feat slot and that alone is pretty difficult to squeeze in high-tier builds.
If anything, it would bring a bit of strength back to lingering spells, such as DoTs and clouds like Acid Rain, while not buffing the "strong" builds, like Electric Sorcerer/Artificer or Shiradi Wizard. It would buff Druid, Acid-using Sorcerers, and DC CCers in general. Even then, you have to weigh taking extend over another feat when playing one of these characters, and it still might not be good enough.
