Question Floating Names Toggle Clears HP Bars and Doesn't Restore Names

I have an interesting problem that I have not been able to resolve. I was hoping someone could provide some insight.

For only one out of my four characters, the floating names over enemy NPCs are not visible. The HP bars are still above the enemy, just not the accompanying names. My social circle recommended to use the Floating Names Toggle Key, "V" by default I believe. When I use this toggle the HP bars are cleared and the names themselves never appear.

I have checked the UI settings and the Show Overhead Name options are checked. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I will give a try when I get home and update you.

    Thanks!

Edit: I have given Ctrl+V a try after resetting my keymapping to default. I am seeing the same behavior as before. My enemy NPCs have only the health bar overhead and Ctrl+V toggles the health bar and does not restore nameplates.

Default Load a different UI layout

The UI layouts hold a lot of those kinds of configurations. You could try overwriting the UI layout on your "broken" character with a saved UI layout from a "working" character. Even if the UI layout doesn't include that particular setting, maybe it will trigger some kind of reset. Just a thought...

    IIRC, the syntax is:
    /ui layout save file-name
    /ui layout load file-name

To prevent losing some configuration on the "broken" character you can always save his layout to a different file before you load the new one.

    Wait...
I haven't had this in the longest time, I thought they removed it at some point in a patch. All I ever get is the health bar....
I don't use skins on any toon, just the standard...

Yeah, but it doesn't show the names. I know and love the UI save thing.

    P.S.

Basically what gets saved is the position of the hotbars (you'll need to pop them out, and set any to vertical, first), mini-map, hireling bars (again, they'll need to be active first), chat display, etc. It's not a skin, just an easy way to keep everything in the same place across your characters. REALLY nice if you regularly play DDO on multiple computers with different size screens. I believe it also loads any alias files you might have.

...or if you were talking about the floaty name thing, that's an option under "UI Settings" to toggle.

in UI settings as you scroll down you will see an option to remove NPC titles or professions.
Also a selection to show targeted monster names.
