Default Class Based End Rewards Questions

For anyone who does not know already, Options>Gameplay>Quest End Rewards Based on Class.

How does this work for Multiclass Characters? Is it the combined available pool, or biased based on level distribution?

Also, who decided what options go for which? I'm running a Silvanus build (8/6/6 Fighter/Cleric/Monk), and while it appears to be working in that I don't get a lot of unusable stuff (like quarterstaves), I've only had one maul drop in the last ~80 quests - compared to a whole pile of greatswords etc. I've resorted to AH and crafting, but it seems like turning this option off would improve my results - assuming the weapon drops would then spread evenly.
I know that isn't a very large sample size, but it seems that I should have >1 by now.

Given that I tend to deconstruct/vendor most items I get, I'm liable to turn this option off anyway, but I figured I'd ask the forums to see what you all do/know.

I apologize if this is an existing query, but I could not find a suitable response on the forums or the wiki.
    Here is what I found:
    • It doesn't apply to named items.
    • It doesn't apply to 20th completions etc.
    • It only partially applies to end lists etc (lower chance but still possible to get unusable items).

    Thanks in advance!

This doesn't really answer all your questions, but a few things I have noticed, at least from older versions of the game...

I choose not to restrict loot to class type because I've found you just don't get as much quality loot. For example if you are a wizard you might get more scrolls and spell components, but might be less likely to get an amazing great axe that could sell for mad plat on the Auction House. A ranger gets more arrows, a thief gets more tools, etc... Not too sure how the multiclass might further effect it, but I usually play multi-classes as well and figured it would be better to open up the options rather than restrict. I'd also wonder if the game is smart enough to know, yeah I'm a ranger so give me ranger gear, but I'm also specc'd for Khopesh, so give me lots of those... I don't think it is....

They could have totally changed how this mechanic works, but at least it in past, anecdotally, it always seemed better to not restrict loot to class.

[*]It doesn't apply to named items.
    correct
[*]It doesn't apply to 20th completions etc.
    correct

It applies to item type based on class.

So for example a fighter will receive great swords with combustion and ice lore, because great sword is a fighter weapon.

Rogues, whether they are assassin/mechanic/acrobat will receive things like clubs and light crossbows because those are rogue weapons.

Bard swashbucklers will still get things like heavy mace, quarterstaff and long sword

and bladeforged paladins will get plate armor because it's a paladin item.

    and so on.

as far as multiclass characters, it goes by your icon. Fighter icon = fighter weapons.

Those item drops you mention aren't affected by that setting. It only affects end rewards. Scrolls, spell components, arrows, and thieves' tools don't appear in end reward lists.

d'oh - thanks for the clarification, my eyes glazed over the fine print and it never clicked that it's *end reward* only. I always thought it was chests. Well I'll be a gully dwarfs uncle...

As soon as I found this option years ago I switched it off (to get completely random hand in loot) and have not looked back since. IMO it should be off by default.

I dont know, I am levelling an artificer now and I have gotten many useful great crossbows and heavy repeaters with red slots that I can use as crafting blanks in rewards. At least as artificer I find it is good to get class based rewards for this reason.

I want to play an artie life and now you gave me a good reason to make it my next. Those repeaters with slots are very hard to find!

I had left my arti on level 5 for a long time, but started playing him a couple of weeks ago and have taken him from level 5 to 13 now. I think I have gotten around 3 each of great crossbows and heavy repeaters with red slots in rewards. Dont know if I have been lucky or not, but I hardly ever see any of those in quests no matter what I play.
