I use Wikipedia's Pages "2010 in film", 2011 in film" and so on quite a bit to work out what film I should watch next {I try to avoid spoilers so I may miss some good ones simply because the name doesn't chime with me and I don't want to actually look it up in case of Spoilers}.

Now I just went through the past 10 years and figured out my favourite movie made each year {some years were better than others so this isn't a top 10 of the past 10 years but a top 1 for each}.

2016 - Rogue One
2015 - Mad Max: Fury Road
2014 - Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
2013 - Jack the Giant Slayer
2012 - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
2011 - Attack the Block
2010 - KickAss {Really bad year tbh - KickAss would not have won any other year}.
2009 - District 9
2008 - The Dark Knight
2007 - Shoot em Up?

Honourable mentions:
Hot Fuzz, Captain America: The First Avenger, Avatar, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Season of the Witch, Warcraft, Star Trek: Beyond and a few others I've doubtless forgotten right now.

I also have to note that in the 12/13 years since Return of the King won the Best Picture Oscar {which frankly should have gone to Fellowship or even Two Towers in previous years - RotK got the oh we have to give it it now vote} I've watched exactly one Best Picture Winner {The Hurt Locker which won in 2010 and I personally thought was just average.}.
I won't be surprised if the Oscar this year goes to a film I have no interest in watching or actively hate either. {I still cannot believe they gave an Oscar to Braveheart!}.
