    Default Need monkey builds!

    So, I'm seriously thinking about TRing my 4th life monk and doing 3 fighter and 3 paladin lives for the bonuses. He's been capped since around 2011, with a few epic past lives thrown in. He hasn't been in heroics since before tomes of learning were introduced, and with them on sale for 75% off, I am contemplating buying one and doing some past lives on him.

    I have a few multiclass builds...but they're all main monk. I need main fighter and main paladin monk builds that focus on handwraps (he's got just about every piece of monk equipment in the game in triplicate, so I'd like to stick with that). I'm horrible with making multiclass builds, though, as I almost always stay pure, or at the most 18/2 or 16/4. I'd prefer 3 PDK and 3 bladeforged lives, though: might as well knock out 2 birds with one stone, and I really don't want to go heroic 1-20 6 times in a row.

    So, yeah. Any good PDK fighter or bladeforged paladin main builds that focus on unarmed?

    This is the build i'm currently playing, a 12 fighter/8 monk pdk. It's currently set up without stunning fist as it wasn't working well with the short range of monk swings before 33.2, shuriken expertise can be swapped for stunning fist if desired. The level order is optimised for having power surge at level 15, with more monk levels taken earlier grand master of forms could be taken at 18 moving overwhelming critical forward to 21.

    As to paladin when I was doing my paladin past lives years ago I did 16 pal/3 monk/1 rog I don't still have the build but I believe the idea was to be able to do traps, have access to light path and have zeal at 18 as I was going from 1-20 and so levels 19 and 20 weren't super relevant. Not sure what an optimal split would be now but I think theres a strong argument for at least 14 paladin levels to get zeal.

    The fighter build looks similar to what I was thinking of doing, although I don't have the +6 tomes. I guess a fighter monk isn't so hard to build. Paladin seems a lot harder.

    Another couple questions:

    Are dexterity unarmed monks still a thing? I'm having a hard time justifying pumping str.

    It's been a long time since I had a monk with cleaves. Do they gain ki on cleave/whirlwind attacks? For that matter, is whirlwind still buggy with handwraps?

    12 fighter/6 monk/2x is a good setup and works with both bladeforged and pdk. could use kensei or shintao as main tree, even ninja spy as main tree could work with handwraps taking strike with no thought from kensei.
    8 fighter/6monk/6 ranger if want some feats for shuriken damage along with handwraps. also could take ranger sprint boost for speed. (also i think tempest could give the extra offhand chance with handwraps but not sure)
    8 fighter/6 monk/6 rogue for traps and sa, also some run speed from acrobat tree, maybe a ninja spy variant focused on sa dmg with unbalancing strikes and stunning fist to proc.
    10 fighter/9monk/1 rogue for traps and more monk levels for run speed, imp evasion and unarmed dice.

    Warlock splash could offer some nice things as well as wizard 7 splash for undead form and buffs (vampire).

    although is more thought to play at epic levels and is tight on feats (for leveling can take more wis and stunning fist feat), the idea is charging a group of enemies with dire charge plus whirlwind attack and paladin cleaves, some times with holy retribution for even more aoe dmg, while keeping great doublestrike and good defenses.

    Also Paladin 10/monk 9/1x
    Paladin 8/Monk 6/6x. fighter 6 for feats and tactics or rogue splash for traps, or warlock for aura, etc.
    Paladin 9/monk 8/3x
    Paladin 14/monk 6 Or 15/5
    Paladin 12/monk 6/2x
    etc. (Although for 1 paladin life at least you should try a THF silvanus PDK Paladin 11/fighter 6/monk 3 (or P8/f6/m6) using kensei tree with one with the blade for centering with mauls and extra +2crit range with mauls with silvanus feat) (or Paladin 14/fighter 6 with heavy armor, not centered but with zeal spell)


    Dex based seems more reasonable with more ac, reflex saves and having the option to use know the angles with some int for extra tactics and dmg. Int based could be another option i guess but need a extra feat for insightful reflexes and few more ap for stategic combat in harper. Str is also an option if using divine might from kotc for extra to hit and some extra str buffs for dmg.
    About whirlwind attack it got nerfed with u33 but still is useful to handwraps giving like 3-4 attacks depending your doublestrike and offhand chance i believe.

    Secondary stats would be wisdom (could be as important as main stat if focusing on tactics) for some monk dc like jade strike, unbalancing strike, kukan do, some monk finishers if path of dominion, will saves, etc, constitution for hitpoints and fort save, some intelligence could be useful if using know the angles from harper and also skill points, but can be raised moistly from gear and tomes.
