    Default Monk Thrower Idea

I am looking to TR soon with one of my characters. Thinking about trying a Monk thrower. There are a number of ways to build that, and I borrowed ideas from several posts. I didn't see anything quite like this; please let me know if there is already something like this that is more fine tuned, or if this is just a bad idea altogether. I am testing this out with an Iconic Shadar-Kai to see how it plays.

    At Iconic creation, it is 8 Monk (8th - 15th), 6 Ranger (second - 7th), 1 Rogue (first level).

Would be (for halfling, it would be less STR base and may need a couple points to avoid potentially getting burdened):
    9 Monk / 6 Ranger / 5 Rogue
Dex based for more shuriken, looking to try to chuck stars much of the time.
    8 STR
18 DEX (all level ups here)
    14 CON
    14 INT
    16 WIS
    6 CHA

    At Iconic creation, it is 8 Monk (8th - 15th), 6 Ranger (second - 7th), 1 Rogue (first level).

Feats selected so far: Point Blank Shot, Quick Draw, Shuriken Expertise, Precision, 10k Stars, Imp Crit: Thrown, Imp Precise Shot, Dodge, Zen Archery
    Favored Enemies: Giants, Undead

    For Enhancements, I have:
34 points in Deepwood Stalker, lots of good stuff here, dex to damage, doubleshot/doublestrike, more dex, some defense
Enough points in Henshin to get Comtemplation x 3 (Passive Ki Regen)
Enough points in Ninja spy to get Stealthy x 3 (Ki Regen while sneaking), and the second core (extra chances for more shuriken)

I would like to go Halfling with dragonmarks for a TR. Not sure if there are enough AP, lots of good stuff to choose from.

12 monk gets you the next feat forms, MOAH damage (RP) during 10K stars, faster movement and abundant step.

Fun fact: all the stealthy sneak speed enhancements stack, so if you want to burn the AP on it, this build can reeeeeeally scuttle fast. See this thread.

That is a good point on Monk level 12, 12.5% faster attacks, another die step. I do want this to be mostly monk levels. Initially I was thinking more rogue would allow maxing lots of skills. I think concentrate, spot, search, disable could all be maxed with just 2 levels. Might not have much for umd/jump, but jump spell can be cast.

That super fast sneaking is great. Also, I am kind of surprised with so much focus on ranged, wraps seem decent on this setup, DWS synergizes for both.

Monks and rangers get decent skill points so you should be able to max search, disable & UMD no problem. I suggest also Hide in Shadows for Scion of Ethereal, and why not also Move Silently so you can be stealthy?

On the Iconic for testing I have no tomes, and probably did not pick the most efficient skills per level. With 14 INT, it was pretty tight. Seems concentrate should be maxed, and I like to have spot maxed as well. Definitely would like to work in hide/move silently if possible. I could probably get there with the tomes added, and reversing INT/WIS to 16/14.

... I'd suggest waiting until the just-released agro changes settle down (range a single mob, all mob's anywhere nearby now swarm to you). It just seems like moving into any ranged build right now is going to require a lot of playstyle tweaking.

I think they intended to nerf ranged, but they nerfed melee significantly more. You could have singled out a champ in the past, then refocused on the rest; now you get a couple champs and every single enemy in the entire room, which has seemed more difficult for slow melee (lots of PUG deaths today, and I have not been one of them), versus fast ranged with a burst option. It means IPS is on basically all the time, and you have to always lead with a burst option (before you could burst priority targets, or as you get too many targets). Everyone is a hate magnet now, so extra sneak attack is not as useful, assassinate seems completely useless, and while stealth seems to work outside of the fight it really cannot be mixed in.

The 12/6/2 Monk/Ranger/Rogue works surprisingly well, having played rangers and artificers, it feels like more consistent ranged damage overall, with a bit lower burst, but can burst more often. Level 22 now and nearly have shiridi maxed, the whirling wrists feature is great. The ki regen is nice too with an item and enhancements, hardly ever get low on yellow bar, and if so, just sneak for a few seconds.
