stuck at loading screen

Had this problem this morning
Running KF, was going to do impossible demands
Had 2 others in group, one got stuck in loading screen
Then we tried to reform,
Found we couldn't leave group,
Message about can't leave while members are teleporting

So, I submitted ticket
And started doing KF explorers
Went into Underdark to open those doors,
Got stuck in a loading screen into schindy
That's was about 1 1/2 hours after initial problem

Looks like they got a problem on their hands....

On another note,
When I login, I watch the authentication process
If I get a low connect rate, ie under 5 kb/sec
Usually real low numbers, under 1kb/sec
Then it won't log in
I immediately alt f4
Wait about 5 min and then relog
That usually connects
I have been having this happen once every few days...

My plan was to play for a while and then to work for a while. This throws that whole plan out of kilter. Now I am stuck relogging again and again and checking the forums for updates. How am I supposed to get any work done under these conditions?

post on FB says they are aware of the problem etc. Hopefully they'll fix it soon and we can get back in game. How I am gonna get over the trauma of having to do some work this morning I don't know.

They just posted on Facebook they are doing a server reboot, we can hope that will fix the problem

There are noone in the office yet, dont you understand that? There simply is not enough income on DDO to have staff available 24/7.

I do not expect anything to happen until maybe 7AM at Turbine offices.

Unfortunately that is still 1h30mins.

If the game worlds crash at 6 PM, Turbine would hopefully have some way to find out and get someone to fix it so that they're not down for more than 8 hours. *SOMEONE* needs to be available 24/7 if they're going to have their business running 24/7.

This isn't rocket science. If your business runs 24/7, you need to be at least partially available 24/7. That's even true if you're a landlord or something similar where your business mostly runs itself under normal circumstances.

I base the following on what I know about data center / IT support (I have worked as an engineer and now PM in and around data centers for the last 13 years).

There is a difference between their internal game support and customer support. Customer support has been slashed to basically business hours; which is understandable. I would have to assume that there is on call folks at the data center that they are hosted (non-Turbine employees) to handle some issues (physical issues) as well as Turbine support folks that will be alerted when there is an outage. I would also assume in this that there is sever monitoring software installed that will monitor services, or whatever they track, that would send an email/text to an on call person if there is a problem. The issue I see is that some problems may not trigger a text/email to a support person if the software does not pick up on a issue. Maybe it appears to be working fine, but in reality is a stuck process or whatever. The other factor is that whomever is being texted/emailed needs time to respond. Probably would fire a remote connection and log in to see what is going on with the servers. All of this is not instantaneous and can take a few hours to get folks engaged.

Point is, just because customer support has been reduced, don't confuse that with the server support that they would certainly have 24/7; either on call type or the data center team.

I almost thought I had been in a coma for a week finding that the servers were offline. Was like, is it Wednesday again? How did a week go by without me noticing?

edit: nope, was just the one time, logged back in and zoning fine.
