    Default Do you remember.....

I was recently questing in Sschin with my hubby and couple of guildies. We were talking about changes in the game since we joined. I said IMO the best change DDO ever made was changing the main money system from gold to platinum. My hubby agreed, but the other two people with us were like no the money system was never a gold system. One was like Haven't you ever heard of plat farming? I laugh at him and tell him yeah it use to be gold farming. So of course, we start going back yes and no -- you guys know how this goes.

My question is am I the only one who remembers how hard it was to get money with the gold system -- am I the only one who remembers when gold was the money standard of DDO?

I joined just after the change to platinum but it wasn't easy making plat either back then. 10k plat used to be way more money than it is today.

Yes...I remember that change over. The values didn't change...it just that they changed the base currency from Gold to Plat. That happened sometime in 2010.

If you need proof...here are the release notes showing the change:

No need to get into the yes/no debate with folks too lazy to research and find for themselves that they're wrong.

Yes, the system was originally a Gold system. Many of us were sad to see the change at the time.

To quote from Lor's Wiki link:

    • The vendor shop UI, auction house, and other places where we display coin values in the UI should now all appear with platinum as the primary coin.

Yep - the Gold Standard was indeed a thing in DDO. They were in the wrong.
I recall having opinions about it at the time, but it seems kinda silly now.

Default I guess I had other issues at the time...

I started playing about six months before that changeover, but I don't recall even noticing the change. I was probably still figuring out how not to die from kobold lightning bolts in WW, heh...
