Elven Ranger in Headstart... Still play him... still a first lifer (although I LR'd him into a 32-point build at some point) He has sentimental value, so I don't think I'll ever TR Weiquinn

Weiquinn was the first character I brought into Ravenloft to check the expansion out.

My second character is a Human Ranger/Rogue... again, still a first lifer (although I LR'd him into a 32-point build at some point, too)

I finally capped Syris playing through Ravenloft

As for my other alts, I don't remember who came along in what order, but they're the group I'm gonna use for my TR train!

    1st created - Human Bard
1st to 20 (level cap then) - Human Fighter
1st TR, later main - Human Sorcerer

    I know, pretty boring

Dwarf Barbarian, got bored after a couple levels, tried Fighter, got bored and went back to a Dwarf Barbarian, quit for a year, made a Dwarf Barbarian, got bored after a couple levels, changed to a Human Thief/Fighter, got bored after a couple levels, went back to Dwarf Barbarian (I hope you're seeing a pattern here)

Ended up making at least 10 characters before quitting for another couple years and settling on an Elf Ranger

When I came to DDO, haggle bards were a thing, so Human Bard.

As a footnote, I have to laugh at those who voted "Drow" - as if.

Pretty sure it was Elf, but I don't know what half of these races are, it's been SO long lol.

    Default Human

This was several years ago. My first toon was a human cleric. I figured focusing on healing was a good way to learn the game and get in some groups, in other words, make a contribution while learning my way around.

It was not a fun experience. I almost quit DDO.

That was back in the days when self-healing was pretty rare, and dedicated raid healers a must. The way this worked in practice was healers had a "kick me" sign on their back. As a healer you could always get into a pug, but you could also count on lots of abuse. Concepts like "line-of-sight" and "range" seemed to be beyond most people's ability to grasp. If they died, players often loudly announced it was my fault and I sucked. Even worse, it was a terrible way to learn the game. I had to spend all of my time closely watching party health bars, mashing the F keys, maneuvering to get into position to heal one person, maneuver to heal the next, and not running into mobs while doing it. I couldn't take my eye off of party health in order to learn the quest or other skills.

    And managing spell point? Ouch.

If you wanted to play a game built around "thankless work," playing a cleric healer in a pug in those days was it.

Yeah, no one ever appreciates the healer. My first was a rather broken dwarf, based on Conan. Took barbarian first, then rogue, then fighter. Around level 5 everyone said: "REROLL". And so I did.
