My first DDO character was a human barbarian (who has also been a favored soul and a bard, and always a human). I picked human because of extra feat, extra skill points, and no stat penalties.

My second and fourth characters are the ones who got deleted.

    Elf Ranger 18 / Monk 1 / Rogue 1

Dex maxed Trapper, tempest, pajama wearer

made it all the way to epics, where he died there
    so many times

Hurt when trap DCs were raised.
Hurt by Dodge and AC changes
Hurt by PRR / MRR ( mostly cause he didn't get any )
Hurt by Enhancement update because tempest tree was awful
Ranger pass did not address the squishiness issues.

Now a PDK Enlightened Warlock Tank
as I've developed an aversion to moderate to low hp/defense melee characters.

My first was Larystessian Caravardian - Elf Wizard - 5th Lifer Morninglord Cleric/Lock now.
Pure 20 thief dart-throwing halfling, same as my p&p character. Of course, that didn't go particularly well, but it was still fun for the flavor.

My first Character was a Sword and Board Paladin. Back in 2009.
I tanked and carried through the quests.

I remember, before I knew about reduced exp from repeating quests.
First day, I ran Information is Key about 3 dozens times.
Before I finally went off, to slowly creep my way through the other harbor quests.

    I miss those old days.
Now, can't hardly fine an LFM.

I can't remember exactly what my first character was, because I did a lot of low level experimentation to see what classes felt like... but the first race I played for longer than the Korthos story lines was Elf (and a Cleric for that matter, I play as my groups healer). Elf was the result of asking my friend for help when I was new to the game... "Hey, Wisdom is important to this class, is Elf good? Yeah sure".

Human 14 rogue, 6 ranger split (at least I think so). I remember him being gimpy but I wanted to be able to dual wield, bow and do traps whenever the situation warranted. 2nd life was almost a same split with 2 monk levels put in, definitely had a better run due to much better saves.

    Default Hlafling Rogue-Sorcer...

This was as close to my favorite PnP character as I could get because F2P didn't give me the option of Gnome or Svirfneblin.

Dwarf Cleric from about 7 or 8 years ago. May still be on another server. Not sure which one though. Havent used any except Argo since 2011 when I rounded up all the easy Favor TP.

Yes this poll currently shows 4 Dwarves and 0 Drow!

11 Elves, 10 Halflings, TWENTY FOUR Humans, FOUR Dwarves {Ok I'll give you that Drow would be low with having to get 400 Favour first if F2P but ZERO? Where are all the people who immediately went VIP so they could play Drizz't?}.
I wouldn't expect anyone would take Drow as their first character. Even VIPs don't get drow until they earn the favor AFAIK, at least I don't remember it being an option.

My preference is to play humans in most games unless they're significantly disadvantaged. All of my characters in DDO are human except for a horc banktoon and a test character slot that has a svirfneblin (named Papasvirf and decked out in blue) in it right now.
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

Some of us started before Drow existed. Sadly my first toon, a human battle cleric, no longer exists as it was wiped when Euro servers were migrated while I was on a break.

My first was a Warforged Barb - how the healers hated me.

Ive changed the names of a few of my alts over the years.

I think he's now currently my main Corazonroto (currently a Ranged Ranger CC/Dps build) with 28 Heroic PLs plus an assortment of Iconic and Epic PLs which I cant remember. His target is triple Heroic Comp which is taking a bit longer than I thought it would :-)

Otherwise hes a parked 8 or 10 life WF Sorc.

    How time has flown

Edit.....he might have been a WF melee Soul - I just cant remember

    Default Humans Rule

Human Sorcerer. my first character was human because I came from pnp and already knew that humans and their extras (feat, skills) are top of the line. learned afterword that I shoulda been a WF for the self healing, but the first was human because of what I was already accustomed to from pnp. Also, people are used to some classes not being available to all races in some mmos but most of the time, humans can be most things without having some obvious or hidden weakness or penalty that will make playing those classes a pain. I think there are plenty of reasons that peoples first race in DDO will be human

Elf bow ranger. Second character was a halfling assassin who became my main, but I still play my first character a fair bit too.

Elven Bard (AA/Virtuoso II) 18 Bard/2 Rogue. Man, that was a rough time... Ended up switching to Spellsinger II because I ended up mainly healing and group buffing. Those were not good days for healing especially when you didn't have Empower.

Now that toon is on her 31st Life!

human sorc. Id looked up the class, what was needed then the races and human was far and away the best choice... lol ironically it still is with the feat.

    Default Elf, of course

I play a human on a dated mmo called "life". I need some variation.

Same as my first ever pnp DnD character as it happens. I still remember sketching torches strapped to the back of the backpack with belts because my DM had said we got our clothing free but had to prove we could sensibly carry out gear! Was red box dnd so as an elf I didn't get to chose a class.
Took me several years to get around to registering for the forum... Don't believe the join date. I am not a new noob. I am an old noob and long time lurker.

    Dwarf Fighter

He suffered a devastating injury at level 4, retired and is now in charge of Inventory Control at the Discordia Armory.
