Default The Image Gallery, no point to it anymore

Do new players ever get to add anything to this or does it forever remain an empty feature of the game?

    Compare the Image Gallery

Drive In Movies were great. If you loved listening to a tinny audio speaker. All it was was a lot of wasted space usually carved out of a cornfield.

Phone booths. Sure, Superman used it, but now, you only see them in hotels as curiosity items. Wasted Space.

Record Collections. Now, if you are over 50 you probably had a bunch of records, aka albums. Where are they now? I took all of ours and sold them for $200 cash a few years ago.

How about Winchester Disks? Another old thing. Huge magnetic disks that stored like one Megabyte of information. Yes, one megabyte.

Just get rid of the Image Gallery. Obviously, the employee that championed this idea is gone. Get rid of the last vestige of their contribution to DDO.

Where is this fabled "image gallery"? I didn't know such an animal existed.

It's on the main menu with Close, the DDOStore and other stuff I can't recall right now.

Ah Yes....wasn't that so dupers could post images of their anniversary cards?

So everyone who had anniversary cards was a duper were they?

It was personal only although I suppose you could screenshot it if you really wanted to brag but unless you were the first to fill it what would be the point?

It was also useless because when you TR it resets - And so unless you saved up 1 of each card {and still have them too} whenever you TR they go away!
Basically making it have no point whatsoever!

I never realized it resets when you TR. Not that this matters to me since I only put like two of those cards in there and then decided I didn't care enough to do any more of them. I'd never really stopped to think about whether it would reset when you TR, either. It makes sense that it would reset, but the fact that it resets is just dumb. As you say, it makes it pointless. Good points. This should just be removed to avoid new player confusion and general UI clutter.

    But...

I do want to point out that the Winchester Drive was named after the Winchester model 1894 .30-30 rifle due to the early plan to use 2 30MB spindles. It ended up using 35 and 70 MB spindles. Even the earliest of commercially available drives had around 3MB.

No...it was more of a reflection of the time...not the people. It just so happens that was a time that duping was at it's worst.

I had anniversary cards....every one of them....just not thousands of each.

    Default Bummer

I collected and traded cards to fill in the image gallery and it got wiped.

This feature is now dead to me. Nobody likes putting effort into something, just to see it get wiped like that. IMO it can be removed.

They seriously haven't fixed that yet???

Well yeah, in that case we might as well get rid of it.

I still have one of each card I 'pulled'. Had to borrow a couple to get a full gallery of the anniversary cards (sans the one reserved for Mournlanders), so not quite one of "every" card. Got some nice screen-shots of the individual cards and the set (again, minus the "Mournlanders" card).

I still think it should have been an account-wide thing, not a character thing. But - oh well.

And, for the record, new players can add to the image gallery, *IF* someone is nice enough to give or lend them their cards. Just sayin'...
