    Default Question about Off-hand Doublestrike

    hey all

I'm trying to understand the logic behind off-hand doublestrike

    *Dervish (tempest capstone):
    +4 Dexterity.
+25% chance to doublestrike with your off-hand while dual wielding.
While wearing light or no armor: +10 Melee Power, Physical Resistance Rating, and Magical Resistance Rating.

    *Perfect Two Weapon Fighting:
    +5% Doublestrike
    +10% Offhand Doublestrike

a pure tempest can reach more than 100% doublestrike in Divine Crusader

Let's say he has 128% doublestrike with Zeal of the Righteous and 1k Cuts active
First of all, why is there even a cap at 100%? Give him a 28% chance to do a 3d strike. Just like with Doubleshot.

    Second, his off-hand doublestrike should then be: 128 + 10(PTWF) + 25(dervish) = 163%
Generally the off-hand weapon will always have a 35% higher chance to doublestrike, than the main-hand weapon.

Is that really the case or am I wrong? Doublestrike applies to both weapons or only to the main hand?
And off-hand doublestrike should obviously apply only to the off-hand.

If that's indeed the case, then every build with PTWF or Dervish should equip his ''strong weapon'' (Vacuum) in the off-hand and his ''weaker weapon'' (Affirmation) in the main-hand.

Affirmation needs to proc only 1 every 60 seconds. After that it goes on cooldown.
Vacuum needs to proc at least 3 times (according to wiki), 5-7 times according to my tests to apply max stacks of Vulnerability.
If all that is true, then it would be better to slot the Vacuum in the off-hand, for more doublestrike and as a result more procs.

    From the wiki

Doublestrike grants a character a chance to make an additional attack roll with their main hand weapon any time they make a main hand melee attack. The additional roll is made on the target of the initial attack. Doublestrike only applies to melee attacks. (Similar effect for ranged attacks is called Doubleshot.)
The wiki isn't always right, but it's right more often then not. I'm inclined to think that with ptwf/tempest you'll have only 35% doublestrike for your offhand. But the best method is always to test it!

Selvera is correct, your "doublestrike" only applies to your mainhand and offhand doublestrike is its own seperate field.

To break this down with pure tempest you will have 100% offhand chance and with dual perfection it is identcal to your mainhand strike(if using the same weapon in each hand). Before offhand was its own animation however now even when you see your toon swing his offhand it counts as a mainhand strike and with 100% offhand chance it basically is 100% doublestrike so every sing animation will strike twice. Then your doublestrike is taken into effect and with 100%+ DS you will strike 3 times per animation. Finally your offhand DS comes in and you have a 35% chance to strike a fourth time in one animation.

IIRC offhand doublestrike is half the mainhand doublestrike for everything that doesn't tell something specific for offhand(for example gear or pl, but ptwf explains different values so the previous rule doesn't apply)

Where does that rule come from? Dunno, i forgot, but depending the description of doublestrike sources, your offhand will be half the shown in the char sheet
psykopeta is finally baconpletionist because there isn't anything to delay it more - thelanis, where the gimps claim to be pros and noobs claim to be pros, no newbies allowed(unless they claim to be pros), we have enough drama w/o them. PS: I post only in the latest thread shown in main page, in the weird case u want something from me, feel free to send pm
