    Default Deconstructing

Quick question about deconstructing, does the crafters level have any bearing on the amount of cannith essenses produced, or is it only based on the ML of the deconstructed item?

I have been sticking in bank to pass to crafter character just in case, but it would be a lot easier to just decon as I get them on the individual chars that loot the items if it doesn't matter, rather than logging back and forth.

For essences it doesn't matter. You do get a small amount of crafting xp from deconstructing things though. (Pretty sure it's 5x per item, ML doesn't matter.)

and it seems that bonus crafting xp via weekend bonus or elixirs do not apply to this.

The number of essences goes roughly by the ML of the item. There seems to be some variation, but I haven't paid enough attention to be able to characterize that better.

As Krelar said, you get a small amount of crafting XP for each decon.

I usually have the character who loots the item do the decon, unless situationally it is easier to pass items on to my crafter.

If it's the same as the old version, it'll be 1 XP per item level, with a cap at 5. So lowbie items will only net 1-4 XP.

For a crafter with decent crafting levels already, those few XP aren't worth the time of moving items thru the bank, imo. Decon em on the char that has the items, and just drop the essences into the bank.

    ...

I haven't ever seen anything mentioned about crafting levels affecting number of essences from decon at all.

neither do I, but there is a precedent - trap parts.

When the new system rolled out I kept track of about 300 deconstructed items in a spreadsheet. My characters were doing Epic Past Lives and so bouncing from L20 to L30 and back. I did not notice any association between character level and Essences received but I may have simply missed it. My statistics definitely showed that the higher the Minimum Level of the item, the more Essences, on average, it produced. There was a big jump in Essence output from ML20 to ML 21, but no big jumps after that up to ML27. In other words, ML21+ items produced significantly more Essences than <ML21 items.

I also make Heroic Pirates of the Thunder Sea Saga runs on a regular basis for the Guild renown and deconstruct those items. Items with an ML of 5 to 11 offer very few Essences. They also offer less than 5 crafting experience when broken down. I am not sure where the demarcations lie.

This was mainly what I wanted to establish, thanks

    Could you elaborate?

I knew dungeon level effects how many parts you get from disabling traps, but I thought trapmaking was passive skill that didn't actually level up ( I only have basic experience with this on a low level rogue).

Are you saying Cannith crafting level also has some effect on gaining trap parts, or am I just missunderstanding your meaning?

The essences seem to be by level with a roll for some variability. I haven't figured out the pattern for why some also give back some plat. For XP, I stopped checking a while ago but it seemed to be a flat 5 XP/item.

He said he hadn't seen anything about it, but that it did work that way w/ Rogue Levels and Trap Parts. As far as any (lack of) official comment goes, it's not related.
