Default Learning PermaDeath....with the very best

PermaDeath. Figured it was the only way to recapture the early years of DDO, but was unable to build/find a group on the Cannith server. Schedule problems, not enough players, too many rules, whatever. Zerg and farm god-like gear was the rule of the day. So I decided to look elsewhere.

I looked through the links in the 'official list', and picked out three to try. I was never able to get an actual invite from one, so only joined two. One of those was seldom active, but I stuck gold with the other. I will not name the guild here, I do not know if they want a rush of newby players needing training in the art of staying alive.

I was amazed at the attention and effort they paid to a green recruit such as myself. "Don't stand in the middle of the tunnel, you were the only target available" at the event of my first death. "If you are getting your butt kicked, don't stand and fight, retreat and get out", at the event of my second death. "Don't go in undermanned, the dungeon is fully staffed" on the event off my third. Scouts peeked around corners, tanks stood in doorways, shooters sniped from the edges, casters way in the back.

    It was near perfect.

But, in the end, I decided to leave that guild. For about the same reasons I have left guilds before. I am basically a recluse. I tend to ignore people around me, zoning in on me and the target, which is disaster in PermaDeath. I play DDO solo, have a single-man guild, because that is in my comfort zone.

I really wish it were not so, I am missing out on some exciting action.

So, for those interested in PD, shop around the servers. You start with nothing but basic gear, which is as it should be. You may gain something much more valuable that god-like gear.
