Default Please make Night Revels old Mabar Gear traded/upgraded like CC Challenge gear

(I mentioned this here in this other thread and it got some agreement, so here it is in its own thread)

A bit of history; skip down two paragraphs if not interested--
Originally, the old Mabar items (Wraps of endless light, Cloak of Night, etc.) were lost and not continued with the demise of the Spectral dragon/gargoyle fight. Due to forum protests and kind requests, they were brought back during the mimic event, and then found their way back to Night Revels where they really belong. At the time of their creation many updates ago, the gear was seen as quite powerful and hence a ridiculously difficult upgrade path was created of long upgrades, much like the Bottle of Rum of Crystal Cove. One needed, and still needs, to start at the lowest grade and upgrade them through every four levels. This system remains since the devs were going out of their way in the first place to have these items/weapons/gear etc.

In that long transition, random loot was upgraded, legendary levels were created etc. making these gear items much less powerful. Their long upgrade path does not make sense. It was re-implemented for those forum posters who really wished to still be able to upgrade, like throwing them a bone; however, I believe lots of new players (and those with alts) would really like to have some of that gear. The gear also represents a large part of what the Night Revels offers.

    TL;DR
    1. Create item upgrade paths like the Cannith and Crystal Cove challenge gear for The Cloak of Night, the Docent of Shadow, Robe of Shadow and Wraps of Endless Light.
    2. Make it possible to create a tier 1 item at the level one desires (like level 16 or 24) instead of needing to upgrade the items from level 4 upward.
    3. Have two more tiers of optional upgrades. The final upgrade could feature an augment slot, like the current successfully reworked Cannith Challenge gear.

(The eternal wands can remain as they exist.)

I predict that this will renew interest in both the gear and the event without actually adding anything new.

#2 is a no brainer. I'm mystified as to why this isn't the case already.

The rest are nice, but seem like effort. /meh. Just do #2, and all would be well. More than that would be gravy (which is not to say I don't like or want gravy).

    Hear! Hear!

    Yes-- agree to 100%.

The Night Revels gear is simply not that impressive, compared to random drop loot, since the various upgrades.

If you factor in the New Crafting gear?

I'll build a cloak-- ONE (1). And that will be IT, for me.

Since I cannot keep the collectables over to next year?

This will likely also be the LAST Revels I bother with--ever.

    Unless some improvements are had.

I agree with the OP. This needs to happen next time Revels is open.

I think you underestimate the power some of the easier-to-acquire stuff has. ML22 +2 INT and WIS augments that stack with everything (except themselves, ofc)? I'll take a few of each, please. ML1 Level Drain augment? I'll take some of those too. Doomsphere Pet? Cosmetic Armor? Other augments? Nice! if I end up with enough ingredients, I'll get a few of each, but the Festive Stat augs and the Rubies of Endless Night are my priorities. As for the more expensive stuff....I already have a Level 20 Cloak of Night (pretty much the perfect level for that imo) from last year. If I decide to spend an evening key-piking in a raid, I might make a set of handwraps, but again my priority is the top-tier augments and probably a set of cosmetic armor or 2 and/or the Doomsphere.

Also, don't forget to buy some of the candies with your leftover challenge ingredients, then buy pots with your leftover chocolates afterwards - the former are cheap, if time-limited power boosts, and the latter aren't time limited, but are single use. Incandescence pots are extra DPS in almost any dungeion (exception: Running with the Devils), and the Death Ward pots mean you don't have to ask for a Death Ward (just drink a pot).

Edit: I got a bit carried away up there....Yes, currently the items are a huge grind if you want them at a higher level. The exceptions are the augments which, while they appear weak at first glance are actually fairly powerful. If you don't want to grind out the augments or cosmetics, tho, that's fine - and a valid choice. I know I only nabbed one of each aug last year - and I think I might've bought one of them off the AH instead of grinding it out.

Agree to all in OP, but if nothing else... at least do number 2 that should have been the obvious way to go.

    old Mabar gear is screwed.
    1. stupidly expensive crafting to tier up or build multiple level items
    2. all BTC
    3. vastly out performed by the revamped randomgen/cannith..
    4. items not updated to current standards or levels.

Even just doing #2 would make sense. If they upgrade the items a bit and add a tier 3 with augments, I think people will want to grind them out. The idea of the event is to offer stuff that people will want to make so that people log in and play the game. Veteran players may not need the stuff at all but newer players might find some good gear there.
I take heart in this since the Cannith Challenge gear was upgraded very quickly.
