Default Make Past Life Feats Account or Server Global

My suggestion: When you Reincarnate and get a past life feat, make it global among your characters.

I play with several groups of friends, and I also just enjoy playing solo. I would like to keep characters of multiple level ranges so that I can level with any group of friends, as well as be able to create a character to level with people just getting into the game (I know a lot of my friends who are trying this game out for the first time)

...and actually have it benefit me in the long run.

I think that if you reincarnate a character, the past life feats you unlock should immediately go to every character on your account, or at least on the server you reincarnated on. This would encourage people to make alts to play with friends that are just getting into the game as it would benefit them heavily in the long run.

That would definitely encourage development of Alts, but an unrealistic request I think. Maybe only heroic lives.

I'm going to have to say I disagree that this is a good option.

Logical reasons as to why? I understand this would be a big change. In my opinion though, it would be better for the game and a good business decision by Turbine. I'd be interested in seeing a good counter argument.

    too much power creep

There are ways that one strong character already benefits the other ones that an individual has on a server. This includes passing crafting ingredients (even a FtP person can pass crafting ingredients up to 12 through the shared bank window, which includes anything that can be crafted), Cannith crafting shards/gear etc., BtA loot, farming loot for lower level toons, etc. IMHO this is more than enough to make a first life 28pt build able to run with others.

Why I think this is a bad idea...

Part of this comes from my PnP background.

    • This will benefit VIP in an unfair way
    • I see each character as a separate entity - This will make alternate characters nothing more than a mirror of other characters
    • The ability to earn all lives needed for a Completionest using first life XP

Look at it from how this can be abused - Single completionest/triple completionest and that will be for all their characters. I also don't think BTC gear should be able to be traded as it is unfair to the other players.

Keeping each character separate allows for them to develop separately. I personally don't want all my characters to be the same, this is why I have 6 different characters.

I would say that's more an argument on removing past life feats entirely; or be able to disable them if you are looking for a challenge to roll a low-powered character with friends.

Maybe implement a 'hardcore run', where you start with no past life benefits but get higher rewards when you get to the end.

I do not like this idea. It would invalidate a gigantic amount of effort already expended by dedicated players.

That's called 'extra character slot'. It's already available.

I would like some type of supported hardcore run. I've done several just for fun; first life, no gear, no ship buffs, no or limited AP use, etc. It would be cool if it was supported in game with some sort of reward.

As far as the OP, I understand the frustration. I used to log in see what my friends were playing and swap to the appropriate level alt. That died with MoTU and epic destinies. I now have a triple completionist and my second completionist is close and several characters that have full destinies. I just don't see the solution to the alts used to be more fun problem.

I smell a Diablo player wanting a system somewhat mimicking the Paragon levels. Which isn't bad in and of itself, but combined with how our game already works, no.

    No.

Different characters are different characters. They don't share experience and so they most certainly don't share past life experience.

It isn't just illogical within the framework of the game but is yet another form of power creep - or an easy button if you like.

    1. Lore: You reincarnate toon not server
    2. Game longevity: No motivation to play game longer on other toons
    3. Game braking: More power creep
    4. Exploit: Early create toon will have massive boost from level 1

And many many more (this is just from 2 minutes of thinking)

    So: No thank you.

Tip: If you think that game is too hard for you, play a little longer (like year or so), then you realize how unwise this suggestion was.
