Default Does Update 32 affect Challenge crafting in any way?

I vaguely recall reading somewhere on Lammania forum that Tier 3 Challenge items will now remain BtA instead of BtC, but will no longer be craftable. Is this true? And if yes, will it affect existing Tier 3 Challenge items?

Yes. They also have a couple other changes as described here.

So, let me guess: There are no plans to allow players to update existing cannith challenge items to their new versions.

    Correct?
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

They should be seriously considering this... so hopefully they are...

Given how broken hirelings are (and seems more broke every single update or patch) it would be nice if they allowed us to convert our old stuff to new. I have lots, but the idea of redoing some of them makes me dry heave.

If I build a piece of Heroic Challenge equipment and craft on it to add an extra ability or reduce the minimum level, when Update 32 arrives, will it become Bound to Account, gain an Augment Slot, and retain the lower minimum level or extra crafted ability? In other words, should I upgrade all my Heroic Challenge equipment before Update 32 to make it as powerful as possible because after Update 32 it will no longer be possible to reduce the minimum level or add an extra ability via crafting?

    Thank you!

The Cannith Challenge items that you have before U32 hits will remain exactly the same after U32 hits--the same minimum level, the same binding status, the same Cannith crafted effects, no difference in terms of the presence/absence of augments slots, etc.

I thought they were removing the ability to craft Cannith Challenge equipment and adding an Augment slot as compensation. That plan was removed? It will remain craftable as now, without new Augment Slots?

    That's still the plan.

But the changes don't retroactively affect pre-existing items.

So in order to make the best Cannith Challenge equipment it absolutely must be made and upgraded before U32? I suppose I am having difficulty conveying the question I want answered.

Nobody can answer that for you definitively.

It depends on what you consider to be the best Cannith Challenge equipment and what effects you value more in a given slot. Some post-U32 items have higher numbers for certain effects than even higher ML pre-U32 versions with Masterful Craftsmanship on them. And other effects have lower values for the post-U32 versions compared to the same Tier/ML pre-U32 item.

    Specific question:

I just made an Tier 2 Epic Cloak of Flames -- ML 20, BtA, one colorless slot. I do not particularly care about it being craftable. Will I be able to upgrade it to "new" Tier 3 -- that is, still BtA, and whatever color slot is added, -- after the update? Or will I be stuck with Tier 2 cloak as it is?

I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to upgrade it to the post-U32 Tier 3 version of the item. But I'm not 100% about that. Maybe a developer or someone who tested that specifically on Lamannia can help answer that though...

the ml20 equipment was considered epic level and was not craftable only the heroic versions were so this pass should not change anything for these items.

So if I wait until after the update to upgrade the cloak, it will still become BtC?

Oh, well. Probably will just keep it at Tier 2.

This pass will actually change every version of every Cannith challenge item. All of the effects on the items that are 'scale-able' are being changed to meet newer standards, for instance. That means scale-able effects like spell powers, spell lores, and dodge are being adjusted (mostly upwards, but some down); but non-scale-able effects like Immunity to Slippery Surfaces are unaffected.

Apparently, as has been mentioned, it looks like all of the bound-to-character versions of the challenge items are becoming bound-to-account also; but I haven't paid much attention to that issue so I don't want to state that definitively. But I know for sure there aren't any versions of any of the items that have been left completely unchanged, including the epic level versions.

{{Speculation}} one would believe (AFAIK, YMMV) that after the update, if you upgrade any of the vault of the artificer challenge gear to tier 3 (so tier 2 --> 3) it would become BtA (unless you have done something like a stone of change recipe on it or slotted a BtC augment)).
