Yep, that's an awesome resource, and he rocks the house. I linked it in the OP, along with his wiki page and his ML spreadsheet. (Pretty sure it's all the same guy, who, again, rocks the house.)

Maybe something can be adapted easily at 20 with an epic golden guile, since you have imr on ring, shift con from neck to ring, myst to the cloak, leaving blur bracers, augment the devotion if it can't be fit in this gives spellcasting implement to offset some loss.
Another option for blurry is to drop Ring 2 and go with Ring of Shadows. Blurry by ML13, or ML14 with a colorless. Then blurry AND ghostly by 23, upgrading blurry to lesser displacement at 25.

This is a great thread! I definitely want to build something like this.

Might make sense to get a second cloak of invisibility slotted with deathblock for all the 12+ gearsets. That way you don't have to buy the most expensive augment for each tier (either from the ddo store, or by paying an arm and leg for a random drop).

Any thoughts on what levels would be best?

Now that the ML Spreadsheet is filled, I can sit down and analyze what makes the most sense. I'm starting to think that the 1-8 gearset would be best made with current crafting on BTA blanks, then switch to U32 crafting for 10+. But I haven't hammered out details yet.

(If you switch the green augment to deathblock, you won't have regular fortification anywhere. But your general point is quite valid. In particular I'm hoping to find a mostly static colorless slot to put Master's Gift, since that's debatably even more expensive than deathblock.)

You could put fortification on the helmet, then deathblock (or whatever) on the neck, slot master's gift in the cloak, and just wear/swap in a voice for the first 8 levels.

So apparently t3 Cannith Challenge will loose the crafting option and get colored slots. If you're willing to give up the HP/SP from smoke bracers that would be another place you could "slot and forget" either deathblock or master's gift for lvls 7-29 (assuming they get a yellow/green slot, which seems likely).

Did a first pass on optimal ML versions, though it's not posted yet. I would like to get this done sooner rather than later in order to figure out what I need to craft now on BTA blanks.

Turns out that the vast majority of items are best crafted in two versions: ML10 or 11, and ML20 or 21. The basic idea will be to level from 2 to 10 using current crafting plus some select named items, then at level 11 switch over to the new crafted gearset. Then upgrade this gearset at 21 and wear that until cap, when you switch over to your endgame gearset.

The biggest exception is goggles, where I'm thinking four versions, all slotted with Master's Gift:
    ML2: Deadly +2 of Seeker +2
    ML7: Deadly +4 of Seeker +5
    ML13: Deadly +6 of Seeker +7 w/iSeeker +3
    ML21: Deadly +8 of Seeker +10 w/iSeeker +4

    You don't already have them?

I probably have over half a dozen on my account, though they're spread across a bunch of different alts.

Here's my first pass based on this breakdown, not including augments:

    free upload image

Yellow means equip a new item. Parentheses mean optional named item; just leave blank (or go with previous item) if the character doesn't have it.

The top row is all with current crafting using BTA blanks, except goggles.

The bottom row is almost all U32 crafting. (The ML11 True Seeing trinket is with current crafting.) I'm thinking deathblock augment (ML12) slotted in the necklace, meaning I would keep wearing the deathblock ring until 13, not equipping the perform ring until then. (The problem with not having deathblock for levels 11 and 12 is that's the exact range where gnoll casters love to spam dispel+slay living, so it's a bit of a bummer to rely on deathward clickies.)

In all cases, I aimed for four items per slot to get from 2 to 30. Other than goggles, every slot has two versions for U32 crafting: ML10ish and ML20ish. Most of the pre-U32 crafted stuff in the lower levels have two versions also, with a couple exceptions. (Str and Con.)

    Best progression: 2, 7, 13, 18, 23

And I just realized that I forgot Dodge and Insightful Dodge, but I suppose those aren't relevant for heavy armor builds so it's not a universal effect like resistance or fortification.

Running out of time, here's my final universal melee gearset:

Slot Prefix Suffix Extra Augment Versions
Helmet Wisdom or Intelligence Resistance or Spot or Intimidate Insightful Fortification Underwater Action or Resistance ML10 or ML12, ML21
    Goggles Seeker Deadly Insightful Seeker Master's Gift ML2, ML7, ML13, ML21
Necklace Constitution Sheltering Insightful Constitution Deathblock ML13, ML21
Cloak Cloak of Invisibility Heavy Fortification (ML9)
Bracers Bracers of Wind Greensteel Smoke (HP/SP) (ML3, ML11)
Gloves Melee Alacrity Armor Piercing Heroic: Ins. Devotion / Epic: Ins. Accuracy Feather Falling ML14, ML20
Belt Doublestrike False Life Insightful Strength Vitality ML11, ML20
Boots Dodge Strength Insightful Combat Mastery Blindness Immunity ML10, ML21
Ring 1 Charisma Dexterity Insightful PRR Fear Immunity ML10, ML21
Ring 2 Wizardry or Perform or Hide Devotion or Assassinate Insightful MRR Striding or Wizardry ML12, ML20
Trinket Intelligence or Concentration Heroic: True Seeing / Epic: Accuracy Insightful Deadly ML14, ML21
Armor Combat Mastery Healing Amp Parrying Good Luck ML10, ML20

The idea is to have as many "universal" items as possible, with one or two designated slots for customizing as per build needs. Helmet and Ring 2 (and to a lesser extent, Trinket) are the customization slots.

Striding is unique in that the augment is actually stronger than the crafted version at all equal levels except 20, where they both give 30%. (For example, at level 12, crafted gives 18% while the augment gives 20%.) So your best bet if you need striding is to go with augments.

For my own edification, here's what I need to craft or acquire. This seems like a ton, but it's actually very little when you consider that it's all the gear I'll need to get from level 2 to level 30 for four or five different characters, not counting situational swaps. (eg: trapping gear, absorption rings, deathward clickies, etc...) Almost all of it can be stored on mules, so this should free up a ton of inventory space on my account in general.

That's a total of 48 BTA items to hold in storage when all my alts are 30. Easily handled by a single mule. Plus I can finally throw away endless amounts of old twink gear. (Mire sets, sora kell, cove hats, etc...)

So if I have this straight, the first of your last two posts shows everything that would/will be needed starting from scratch and the second is what you need to make since you already have stuff made that will do for now? In the second post you say about "Old" items so are they ones you will getting rid of completely and just using the new stuff? Sorry for the dumb questions m8 I just seem to have the dumb atm lol

Oh and won't it cost a small fortune in crafting mats to make everything? It is a lot of gear.

Post 54 shows slotting: what effects go where.

Post 55 is a list of everything I plan to make. "Old" refers to stuff to be crafted now, on BTA blanks, before U32 goes live, using the old system. "New" means wait and craft it after U32 goes live, using the new system.

BTC and BTA refer to named items. Obviously, BTC items need to be acquired on each individual character.

EDIT: As for cost, yeah, now that the crafting planner is back online I can tally up the costs.

Now the big question: Is this even remotely affordable?

Unfortunately, crafting True Seeing in the new system costs new high-level collectables that don't exist yet, so I can't make the trinkets immediately. For everything else, I could theoretically make the item with just prefix and suffix as soon as U32 goes live, then wait to add the extra effects as I collect new high level collectables through normal play.

To make just the ML/Prefix/Suffix versions of everything (except true seeing):

    7840 essences
    30 Amber Vial (have 241)
10 Amulet of the Six (have 203)
45 Blade of the Dark Six (have 1006)
30 Bruised Spore Pod (have 52)
    10 Charred Soarwood (have 84)
    10 Cryptmoss (have 89)
    20 Cryptmoss Worm (have 86)
90 Cryptmoss Worm Larva (have 291)
    20 Fragrant Drowshood (have 13)
    120 Funerary Token (have 318)
    10 Glass Phial (have 101)
    30 Glittering Dust (have 305)
10 Khyber Prayer Pamphlet (have 31)
20 Mark of the Keeper (have 154)
    20 Moonstone (have 103)
60 Page Torn from a Research Notebook (have 102)
    10 Polished Ore (have 37)
    60 Romantic Sonnet (have 165)
    30 Runic Parchment (have 122)
    10 Scholarly Notes (have 44)
10 Signet of the Devourer (have 246)
20 Silver Flame Hymnal (have 53)
    120 Singed Soarwood (have 319)
    60 Skull Fragment (have 779)
30 Small Planar Crystal (have 242)
10 Small Wooden Idol (have 155)
    60 Sour Darkcap (have 165)
    20 Sparkling Dust (have 231)
    30 Sweet Whitecap (have 879)
20 Vial of Pure Water (have 85)
40 Wavecrasher' Cargo Manifest (have 321)

The cost of the "extra" effects, which includes purifieds and new high level collectables:

    5300 Essences
    90 Purified Eberron Dragonshards
    30 Ancient Text (have 0)
    10 Archaic Logbook (have 0)
    15 Blister Beetle (have 0)
    30 Brass Censer (have 0)
    60 Crypt Moth (have 0)
    30 Flint Knife (have 0)
    15 Fractured Femur (have 0)
    10 Hairy Trumpet (have 0)
90 Mortar and Pestle (have 0)
    30 Ornate Charm (have 0)

    60 Ruddy Fungus (have 157)
    20 Silver Bowl (have 68)
    30 Slime Mold (have 0)
    10 Stone Fetish (have 0)

Seems attainable. Really all I need to find is 7 fragrant drowshood and I'm good to go. Not entirely sure which "extra" effects are using those existing collectables, but I could at least make those right away.

EDIT: The ruddy fungus and silver bowls are used for Insightful Fortification. (On the helmets.)

Written all the "old" stuff down so I can easily check in game but looking not to bad I think. I'm not going to bother with the trinket for DSD since I have a pair of goggles with that on already plus a pair for True Seeing at level 11. Been thinking about a Ranged version of this and I don't think there is a massive amount of difference between the two (main one being Doubleshot instead of Doublestrike that I can see) so maybe with a couple of small additions have both? Then again would need DEX and INT to cover all bases so might be a tad on the tricky side to squeeze everything in (I'm getting really good at this "bad idea" thing ).
