Default Love for the current crafting system

If you don't like the current crafting system please post elsewhere.

This thread is for people who really like the current system and craft a lot and consider crafting a big part of how they play the game.

For those of us who use crafting a lot and see it as a big part of the game, this update is a major change. For us, this update may break the game irreparably. There may not be many of us, I know there are a few. And maybe Turbine doesn't care to lose a small group like us. But at least maybe we can be heard here.

In too many places I see people posting who craft every now and then or the first line in their post is, "I don't use the current system because..." and my view of these people are that if they didn't take the time to discover the advantages of the old system, then the new system isn't going to be any better for them. Because the current system has a lot of powerful stuff in it that is easy to make and very useful, especially at lower levels. The game is easy enough to play without crafting so I see why some people choose to ignore it and I am not saying that you have to craft to enjoy the game.

So this thread is for people who like and heavily use the current system, know it's advantages and disadvantages, and have some frame of reference to make judgement calls between the old and new system.

Having used the old system a lot and having spent time on Lamannia working with the new system I can say for sure that the new system is weaker, much less flexible in where you can put effects, and is much more expensive than the old system in ingredients. It is slightly less confusing.

I don't see much here that will make people who don't currently craft. I see a lot here which will cause issues for people like me.

I don't fly through levels as fast as I can. I play deliberately and slowly. I will move through a dungeon quickly, but I will usually try to break all the breakables, collect all of the collectables, and do almost all of the optionals. I don't farm high XP quests. I try to run all of the quests as I level. When I hit level 30, I stay there a while and TR and start over with a new build.

My characters I try to make as self sufficient as possible. I have always liked melee types although I am a completionist. On any life I craft as I go and try to make sure that I don't get hit. When I do get hit I try to mute the damage. And I try to stay immune or protected against all the nasty little things that monsters like to throw at you like magic missiles, holds, and fingers of death. I don't like to use hirelings. I find that through healing amp, past life feats, potions and vampirism, that I can usually keep myself fully healed whatever my class. I put up LFMs often because there are not many up anymore and I end up soloing a lot because people don't join or just to get away from the zergers sometimes. I don't devote all of my resources to pure damage. I like to make a well rounded survivable character.

The reason I go into so much detail about how I play is that all of the above requires crafting. For the first 15 levels of any life almost all of my gear is crafted. I don't have to play that way, I enjoy playing that way and you can see why the changes to crafting will have a great impact on how I play this game. The new system is inflexible meaning I cant get nearly as many effects on me and they are weak.

Melee alacrity, one of the staples for any melee build, went from being available as +10 at level 1 in the current system to being only +9 at level 30 in the new system. Vampirism is gone. There are a lot of changes that will have a major impact on my play style.

I don't know how many people play the way I do or use crafting the way I do. I have met a few.

I would like people to post to this thread if they use crafting the way I do. If the thread fills up, maybe it will get Turbine's attention. Maybe they will rethink the new crafting system. If not many post, then I will know I'm just the odd nut who played the game wrong all these years.

I can see some similarity between how you seem to play or use the current live Cannith Crafting and how I tend to frequently reuse my current Crafted gear.
Yes, collectables in the "NoWorries Cannith Crafting" U32 will pretty much hobble re-crafting onto blank items, while you level 1 to 20.

Unless the Collectable drop rates skyrocket or you want to suffer grinding quests just to obtain certain collectables; its likely not going to be worth the effort re-crafting every 3 or 4 levels during Levelling-up your Character [1-20] collectable cost will become prohibitive.

My best advice to you is to farm up sets of BTA items from the Sharn quests (& STK end-rewards for hats/belts) and craft all the low level gear you like to have so you can push it onto mules or use it on other characters. That's what I've been doing the past few weeks.

This. Make as much as you can now for some of those effects that are important to you. There are so many easy ways to get bta gear in a few min for the old system.

I love the old system. I love the new system. To make the new system work you will need to focus first on making bta items of highest importance for leveling.

The collectible cost should be lowered for bta prefixes and suffixes while raised for bonus items. That's not going to happen before the release if ever, but I think for the most part the community will be sharing the easiest way to acquire specific collectibles. I was worried about fragrant drowshood which I am very low on and then found I can farm 5 within 10 minutes by running the tangelroot quests.

For the OP, I am not 100% crafted items but we see eye-to-eye on the old system and its value. In my case, I provided many odd combinations into chests for my guild, so players could try something different (like a Stench Great Crossbow of Slowburst). I didn't make many crafting levels putting out all that product for zero XP, so I'm not a maxed crafter even though I've spent more time in CC than most of the level-capped crafters. At times, I would have 3-4 hour login periods with nothing being done but crafting related tasks, some of which are simply conversation with guild members about what they're trying to array in their gear, and/or new-to-game players in need of weapon(s), which I would make along with showing them the way the unbound machine worked so they could grow their weapon over time inserting a suffix shard later, an Enhancement shard yet later, to grow their gear with their leveling.

These aspects of crafting - may die off, and the move in this direction did not start with the design of this new CC system, it started with the implementation of the New Loot System over 9 months ago. That decision in itself set this train in motion, and the Dev's refuse to acknowledge the failures in New Loot System and that it needs an overhaul before Cannith Crafting is then set; so they're heading for the cliff regardless what we say to them.

Huh? I haven't been on Lamannia personally but aren't all bound cannith crafting items bound to account now? Or did something changed last couple of days?

Yes. They are bta. But he is saying make items NOW on the current system for things that might not be so good, like melee alacrity, on the new system. If you put them on BTA items you can shift them to a bank toon for storage before the update.

Yes but if people want to make leveling items with the old cc it must go on bta items otherwise the items are btc.

I’d usually re-gear my toon in heroic about every 3 – 4 levels, crafting around a few named items that I might have for a toon. I’d usually re-use the same item mainly to save bank space. It was an effective system to lvl 20.
