    Default Error Code 5 following fresh install

    On windows 8.1 I downloaded the client and ran the installation.

    On launch it errors out: Error code 5

    Any thoughts?

    Hey sooktest,

    This is probably an access denied error being thrown by patchclient.dll when the launcher tries to check for or install updates. You can try running the launcher as Administrator. This can be accomplished in two ways.

    Way 1:
    Right-click on the DDO shortcut, select properties -> compatibility tab and check 'Run this program as an administrator'.

    Way 2:
    Open the DDO installation folder in Explorer. Find the file named "TurbineLauncher.exe", right-click on it, select properties -> compatibility tab and check 'Run this program as an administrator'.

    This will probably fix your issue.
