Default Level differences on making an instance, public

I try to always make any quest I do, available for others to join. This though, involves me reducing the level cap by 1 on the LFM window. By default it's always set to allow players, one level above the mentioned elite level, to join and remove the bravery bonus? Or is there some aspect to this I am not aware of?

You're not missing anything, there was no bravery bonus when they added public groups so having people 1 level above the quest was not a problem at the time. I doubt there are any plans to revise it anytime soon.

Also, when making your dungeon/wilderness area public check the classes allowed area. There is a bug that replaces the Warlock icon with the epic icon, and Warlocks won't see your public listing unless they have the show all groups option going. You have to click the classes area and click Warlocks so they can see the ad too.

That's not accurate. Bravery bonus was added in Update 11. So-called "public groups" weren't added until Update 14. The default level range on "public groups" has always been stupid.

The funniest thing is that fixing this likely requires just changing part of one line of code from something along the lines of X+3 to X+2. It should take less than 15 minutes and would remove an endless recurring annoyance to anyone trying to maintain their bravery bonuses but they don't do it.

They have to spend their time on the really important things like:
    • The Hall of Heroes has had its music changed.
    • The Hall of Heroes has new rugs.
    • The exit loading screen in Don't Drink the Water has been fixed.
    • NEW: The guild airship Sellswords Tavern amenity no longer grants +40% movement speed in quests. The amenity's benefit still applies in public areas, as intended.

Anyone think maybe the BB was added in so that people wouldn't run quests so much for favor but instead entirely for XP?
"No I can't run that with you, it will not give us bb"
"But it will be a smooth run for favor and you will still get XP"
"No sorry it will destroy my first time bonus"

It's now in the One Thread Results Thread as something they're going to try to address. Happy now?

Got complaints about the in-game hirelings?

WOW thank you for that. I was wondering why when I left "Show.." on I could see several quests my level range but not gold. When I filtered to only show ones I qualify for some times there where none and usually many I know I did qualify for where taken out.
I just now looked and "Epic" is where Warlock should be on every single public. SO this should help me get into many more groups. And I was able to join one that was brownish by pressing the Join button. Something I would not have tried before.

As the saying goes, talk is cheap. I'll be happy if/when this gets fixed.

Have you seen the various lists of known DDO issues floating around with bugs that are months and years old? The irony is, many of those issues are now also on the "One Thing" list. It's like they're making lists for their lists.

So, here we are 5 months later and still nada on this. Still think I should be happy? This thread was a great idea that evolved into the coding equivalent of "check's in the mail".

The amusing thing is, the default LFM level breaking bravery bonus is even more annoying now that we're required to do the mission at base level on reaper to get full reaper xp.

They took an existing problem that should have easily been fixed, ignored it, and then added new stuff that made it worse. Go figure.

Pretty sure they introduced Public Groups AFTER BB not before!

They just badly mishandled the Public Group system and never bothered fixing it!
