'Quick Note' in a place that no one will ever find it, I only have it as I've had to bookmark it. No start time, no estimation on work to be done, no restart time.
Put it on the ****ing launcher a week in advance, if SSG are that useless they can't even schedule maintenance 1 week in advance then what the **** are they doing running MMO's?
I log in and get a 15 minute server going down warning.
How many hours for this time?
I did my yearly visit to GW2 yesterday, I could of played this and visited there today, no notice, no warning basically **** all again.
I have 2 months VIP left running that came from my Ravenloft pack that I probably won't get to use, if I try to play again and the game is down my head will blow and I'll end up rage quitting yet again.
I spent most of yesterday telling people in GW2 that this game was still playable, that their tp hadn't vanished when SSG took over and that it wasn't going down every 5 ****ing minutes.
More fool me.
p.s. and if you put in on the launcher put it in GMT instead of local with (GMT), its supposed to be about the player, not the dev too ****ing lazy to work it out themselves.
If you want to use a mic and headphones get a games machine.
PC games are still for those who TYPE!
I'm normally not logging in to ddo in the morning, I'm busy biking the kid to school and then myself to work. Sorry for being a productive member of society!
Also, if its just a weekly restart it shouldn't take more than a few minutes. I used to have an 800 node cluster we had to do a weekly restart on (thanks OS X for being a real piece of ...work) -- took us under a half hour, usually closer to 15 minutes. We later switched to Linux (on mac hardware) and quit doing that weekly restart, because there was no need. It was stable even without the weekly reboot.
A week's notice for a weekly downtime is a bit much, but dropping a note the previous day would have been nice, just so when worlds were down it was obvious why.
Probably like most people (myself included) that are normally working during the day when it's happening and don't know.
Then happen to be off this week for the holidays, go to hop in the game and get blocked.
It's clearly more than just a restart as it's been closed for over an hour now, so I agree that a heads up in the launcher would be a nice thing.
Much more useful than the bloody newsletter announcements in there.
[Insert snarky/witty comment]
this is not very good as I only get to play in the morning before going to work. In the last month due to updates ,hotfixes and restarts December was a lame month for game time. really unacceptable guys. as a paying customer I am not getting my monies worth here . it is very consistent also . When updates to the game come up I expect extra downtime cause you seem to rush things.
and same time every week since July, I have been working. so yes, I would appreciate some kind of a notice on the initial login screen that DDO is currently offline for regularly scheduled maintenance instead of seeing the "world closed" message
so once I saw that, I checked the service news and saw the weekly restart message but it also says that usual down time is around 1 hour and if it did start at the listed time, it's been over 90 minutes now. so did make me wonder if something else was happening as I don't know if it's common for it to be offline for closer to 2 hours than 1

Yep I'm usually at work when the weekly restart happens, but, when I find that I can't log in I go to the forums and before acting like a spoiled brat (as did the one that started this discussion) I read why it's down. And then if I see that it is happening for half an year, in a weekly fashion I won't get all upset, because if I didn't know about them it's probably my fault as I wasn't reading the information in the forums.
Also, as you can see in the 1st post in this thread (the one from 5 months ago) you can see that the amount of time to restart is more-less 1 hour so I wouldn't lose my pants over it.
that name calling is not acceptable , (spoiled brat) . Reason: 2. Harassing, Insulting and Abusive posts: We do not tolerate any comments that are abusive or insulting, involve name calling, or attempt to disparage, harass, defraud, threaten or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players, guilds, Fansites, groups, the developers, Turbine/WB employees, or other companies.
i expect you should get a 2 pointer for that.

Server status shows worlds are up. But as I try to log in it shows worlds are down. Perhaps something wrong with the app?
