    Default Trying to Remember

    Hi all,

So many years have passed, and after a decade in DDO, I find that my memory of the early years and its people has faded. This is particularly true since I pulled myself out of public circulation several years ago. Anyway, I am trying to remember the name of a guild that used to exist back on Tharashk before the server merge and also existed, at least for a time, on Thelanis. I'm also trying to remember the name of the guild leader. The most notable members of this guild I can remember are Woad/Inspire who later belonged to Legion, maybe Mister, and perhaps one of the alts of the leader was Evangeline?

    Any help is appreciated.

I can tell you it goes back pretty far. I was just checking it out, bored waiting for the update to finish. I typed in a guild that I use to be the leader of over 6 yrs ago. There it was with all the members names, and even more than that how many members and how many were active. It had 296 active members at the time it was I guess memorized. Holy Hell, that is crazy one guild with that many active players. The guild I lead today has maybe 6 active players. Goes to show, how much of the community we have lost through the years.

To be fair, there are a lot of super guilds right now that have a heck of a lot more than 296 active players. I'm not sure if there is on Thelanis, but there definitely is on Sarlona and Ghallanda.

Fair enough We weren't a super guild back in the day a bunch of noobs with an idea of how to play learning together. I would be hard pressed to say we have any guilds on Thelanis with 296 active players, now. I find that odd though, because a couple weeks ago I popped over on Sarlona and Ghallanda both checking them out specifically to see how active they were. They were both dead, no lfms up -- no one running through the houses, etc. I was actually debating whether to move some toons over to either one of them if they were more active than Thelanis. I checked them for about a week and they were not anymore active than Thelanis, less I thought actually, so figured I would stay on Thelanis.

It really depends on your definition of "active".

By DDO's definition which is used to determine a Guild's Renown bonus/penalties active = Has been online at least once in the past Month {4 weeks 1 day I believe is how DDO measures a month}.

I'd be very surprised if Thelanis doesn't have at least a couple of Guilds that fit that definition for having 200+ active players.
The only way to know for sure would be to be in one of those Guilds.

Though 300+ is extreme Wayfinder supposedly has one with 750+ active accounts. {This still only equates to 20-30 players online in that Guild at one time}.

The difference in total daily population between Sarlona and Ghallanda is around an extra 5%, Between Ghallanda and Thelanis it's another 5% and therefore between Sarlona and Thelanis you're still only looking at 10%.
At any time of day that can be virtually unnoticeable - If Sarlona has 120 people in the Who list at 6am UST while Ghallanda has 105 and Thelanis has 90 would you notice that difference without actually counting every person in the Who List?
At peak hours with 4-500 people online on all three servers you certainly won't notice any difference.

Ghallanda and Sarlona have very different population dynamics to Thelanis.
    Ghallanda is heavily European.
Sarlona has a massive Chinese population.

If you're logging on to either Server at US Peak Hours then their who list/LFM page etc. are going to be very similar to Thelanis.
However at off peak hrs there's generally substantially higher numbers of people on those two Servers than elsewhere.

I'd also like to point out that whichever server currently has the default {atm that's Orien} generally has +50% population minimum of the next strongest server {which will usually be the previous server to have the default as it's population - atm that would be Argo}.
Thelanis hasn't had the default in over 4 years - This shows and it seems from what I've been told by at least one Thelanite that the population of Thelanis has fragmented into smaller and smaller Guilds.

By my own count Thelanis actually has the highest number {by some distance - 46 to 35} of Lvl 160+ Guilds, it also has more 150+ Guilds AND 140+ Guilds than any other Server!
    If I've missed any I do apologise - https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...36#post5577736
Strangely however at 190+ and 200 Sarlona, Khyber, Argo AND Cannith are all ahead of Thelanis currently and Ghallanda is equal with Thelanis for 190+ though with less 200s.

    Thelanis needs the default badly
Yes when last we could see the actual numbers - I counted them from 22nd April to May 9th, Here they are for those 17 days:

    G-Land - 106,142
    Khyber - 104,985
    Thelanis - 99,994

    Cannith - 92,611
    Wayfinder - 37,925

Orien averaging around 9k log ins per day {24 hrs}.
    Argo averaging 6.6k per day
Sarlona, G-Land, Khyber, Thelanis and Cannith 6k +/- a couple hundred
    Wayfinder 2k.
I posted those numbers multiple times and Thelanis may have managed to pull away from Cannith making it seem like Cannith needs the default more Cannith has actually had the default multiple times in the past 2-3 years and I'm sure can wait for Thelanis to have its turn.
Argo {Last default} > Orien {Current} > Thelanis {if I had my way from tomorrow} > Cannith > Khyber > Argo again > Thelanis again > Orien again > Cannith again > Ghallanda > Sarlona > Khyber again would be my proposed defaults for the next two years at 2 months each based on the population trends of the past 4 years.

Painful as is it with a guild of this size, I decided to manually count the number of active characters in Dragon Horde (Thelanis). Here were my results, admittedly likely somewhat off due to human error:

132 characters online within 1 day
232 characters online within 1 week
408 characters online within 1 month
650 characters online within 6 months

These are the results that DDO gave me for the guild:

    Active Accounts: 246
    Inactive Accounts: 88
    Recent Departures: 7
    Modified Account Size: 165

It's not quite 296 active players, but it's close. Now, we pick up a lot of new players and answer questions, give advice and possibly help in the forms of plat or items; unfortunately, not all new players stay with the game, so some characters in our guild who are technically "active" may have actually stopped playing DDO after trying it and deciding it wasn't for them.

From my understanding, the guild Explorers of Thelanis has even more active accounts than us at Dragon Horde. Also, there may be other large guilds on Thelanis I am unaware of. So, in truth, there are still a few very large guilds remaining on Thelanis.
