    everyone keeps asking me what my current build is so here it is.

    I disagree with a few things you have done but there not big deals, how ever you use an epic feat for Two Weapon Defense (5 PRR), Epic Damage Reduction (10 PRR) is a better choice.

    O and I'm assuming Perfect Two Handed Fighting is just a typo and is really Perfect Two Weapon Fighting?

    One more think to consider if it makes sense for you to swap Evasive Target to the Lv28 feat and take Harbinger of Chaos at level 29.

    First Blood 50 - 300 damage to targets with >=90% health
    50-300 = 175 average
    Mobs are above 90% health for 10% of the time/your attacks
    175 * 0.10 = 17.5 average damage per attack

    Harbringer of Chaos 1d20 damge per hit scales with melee power vers all targets +2d10 vs Lawful targets.
    1d20 = 10.5 average per hit before melee power
    At 67 melee power 10.5 base is 17.5 damage if you melee power is grater then 67 you well do more damage with Harbringer of Chaos

    sounds pretty good thanks for the input will consider it its just for a etr when all said and done will be going bk to ranged ranger for my endlife was just looking to mix it up a bit... and btw i did do perfect thf for the extra glancing blows may switch it on the next etr 6 done 30 to go you know

    You don't get glancing blows when two-weapon fighting.

    To get glancing blows with a bastard sword/dwarven axe you have to have nothing/shield/orb in your other hand.

    I keep seeing STR builds. Is there a compelling reason to go STR over DEX these days? It seems like you give up some significant advantages doing that, specifically reasonable reflex/evasion.

    Admittedly, I would like to do str for khopesh (mostly because I have so many already) and stunning blow, but if not doing that or primal scream I would think a dex build would be attractive... right?

    If you go DEX-based, you're restricted to scimitars* as your best option, which become 14-20/x3 weapons with rgr crit bonuses + IC:Slash. If you go STR-based, you can use khopeshes, which are 16-20/x4 weapons or about +3% DPS. And if you're asking, "LOL who cares about a 3% difference?" you may have wandered into the wrong forums. Besides, the STR build can use scimitars or khopeshes; the DEX build can only use scimitars. Whether that DPS tradeoff is worth the higher AC & Reflex saves of being DEX-based is up to you. I keep spamming DEX-based Dragonmarked elf builds, so I'm hardly a neutral party on the matter.

    INT-based with Harper is a third option, but you have to spend at least 12 APs for Strategic Combat, which usually means reducing DWS APs.

    *Well, you can use rapiers too if you take Finesse feat; and Balizarde is a 14-20/x4 weapon in the hands of a pure Tempest, so that's pretty good for mid-epics. But Bali is not considered an endgame-worthy weapon, despite that awesome crit profile. And anyway you can use Bali just as well on the STR build.

    While scimitars might be the best choice for a dex based melee ranger using the tempest line, they are not the only option. The tempest dex to hit and damage (core enhancements) work on all light melee weapons (like weapon finess) but not with rapiers (like weapon finess).

    Similarly, you can choose to use the deepwoods stalker line to get dex to damage (with improved finess) and pick the weapon finess feat. This lets you use rapiers which may or may not be better.

    Sadly I must be in the wrong place because I haven't done the math to figure out if either of these choices is better than the two you suggested.

    Default What about a little ranged option?

    I like the way this build looks however is there a few small tweeks that could boost the dps and useage of Manyshot amd ranged in general? Maybe slot in Ranged Crit feat somewhere? Any low hanging fruits on DWS tree that could help?

    How about equiptment and stat focuses? What are a list of primary things i should be looking to incorperate into his gear? Strength i assume but then? Doubke strike? Deadly, Con and HPs? Focus on boosts or weapon multiplier? I am not that great at deciding on what is actually important here.

    All of the above, and more?

    Relying on dropgear is tough, b/c so many diff things are important. Of course you want to boost DPS, natch (good weapon(s), Primary DPS stat, Deadly, Doublestrike/shot, etc.), and defense (Fort, Con, PRR/MRR, Dodge, AC, etc.). Of course any build needs enough Str to avoid encumbrance. Rangers (and any caster type) needs enough Spell-stat (here, Wis) to cast their spells. Saving throws should not be ignored, nor boosts to key skills. And don't forget to include non-scaling protection like Death/Blindness ward, etc. This list goes on and on (something over 30 "core" boosts to consider!) - which is why relying on dropgear can make it a real challenge.

    If, otoh, you're crafting... one plan for a crafted gearset (which gives an idea of how many slots need to be filled to be "complete").

    There's five must-have melee feats on this build, IMO: khopesh prof (b.sword is a flavor choice IMO), Precision, IC:Slash, Overwhelming Crit, PTWF. So that leaves 5 heroic, 3 epic, and 2 ED feats to do with what you like. OP added a couple of metamagics (Quicken+Maximize), a few defensive buffs (TWD, Dodge, Mobility), and Completionist for good measure. You're free to do what you want with those spare feats, though; e.g., Point Blank Shot, IC:Ranged, Doubleshot, and possibly Combat Archery if your base DEX is high enough.

    The real issue is AP constraints; there's little if anything to spare for AA. DWS adds a lot of "free" ranged DPS improvements, but without AA imbues + Shadow Arrows, it will lag significantly behind a pure AA build (though that's to be expected). On a F2P version w/out Harper, you could do 1 AP human (Dmg Boost) / 6 AP AA (Morphic Arrows) / 31 DWS (Mark of the Hunted) / 42 Tempest (capstone) running in LD with Pulverizer, which will apply to bows while Morphic Arrows is active (or at least it used to - haven't tested in a long time). So longbows become 17-20/x3 with all available crit bonuses; 15-20/x3 if using a bow with expanded crit range like Pinion or Sapphire Sting.

    OK. Did some in game checking and Metamorphic Arrow DOES still stack with Pulverizer. Does Meta Arrow stack with anything else? So with that in mind, I need to Get Meta Arrow, Run in LD for Destiny (with Pulverizer), get Improved Crit: Ranged, and ???? ,,what else can I swap out for a little more kick in ranged DPS? what is the next best feat for Ranged DPS? Point Blank Shot maybe?or is that it without
    endangering survivability options?

    And I don't really understand the Weapon Focus:Slashing at Lv 18? Am I missing something?

    Also I do not think we need both metamagic Quicken and Maximize as the Cure Spells cast quickly anyways. How about only MM: Improved Healing at Lv15 then swap it out to Maximize after level 20 or so with a feat swap? with some healing amp and MM:IH we should be able to get 150 point self heals pretty easy, 250 with Maximize. That will free up an Epic slot for a more useful feat. (maybe Doubleshot?)

    Can I fit all this in with Points? it seems like a lot to fit in with only 80 points.

    That's my pure melee tempest set up (everything on the left--29 and 30 have suggestions afterwards). Sure it's probably not different than many others. I do find Harbinger of Chaos better for Leg Elite content, as I can't stun a thing with Dire Charge on EE, hardly ever. Works everywhere else though with a 94-97 DC depending on party.

    I do have a dex set up that can drop AP and spec ranged when needed, if interested. It's fun, just swapping between two sets of gear and destinies and spending up to 200k pp to swap based on quests got old really quick.

    Point Blank Shot / IC:Ranged / Combat Archery (req's base DEX 21) / Doubleshot ED nets you +2[W], +1 crit range, and +10% Doubleshot; while still leaving 3 heroic, 2 epic, and 1 ED feat slots available.
    And I don't really understand the Weapon Focus:Slashing at Lv 18? Am I missing something?
    Each Weapon Focus melee feat adds +2 Melee Power (regardless of weapon type equipped); likewise WF:Ranged/Thrown adds +2 RP. Not the best use of one's spare feats, IMO, but...
    Also I do not think we need both metamagic Quicken and Maximize as the Cure Spells cast quickly anyways.
    At some point, Quicken becomes a must-have if you want no-fail CSW, not "mostly works" CSW. If you're getting pounded hard enough to need an emergency CSW, you're getting pounded hard enough to need Quicken, IMO.
    That will free up an Epic slot for a more useful feat. (maybe Doubleshot?)
    Doubleshot can only go into your lvl 28 or 29 ED feat slot; so it wouldn't be in competition for a metamagic or regular epic feat like Epic DR.

    Pure melee ranger is still fine, although bastard swords are a flavor choice, IMO. STR-based w/khopeshes or DEX-based w/scimitars would be my choice; the former has better DPS, the latter has better defenses (higher AC & Reflex saves). See also the Cuisinart and Tempest trapmonkey threads.
