Default High Lords will host Caught in the Web teaching raid on Saturday, April 23 at 2pm EST

Our last teaching raid Hound of Xoriat was a good time. We saw some returning faces and some new faces to our events and we really want to encourage other new people to join the fun. CLICK HERE to read about it.

Next in our series will be Caught in the Web on Saturday, April 23 at 2pm EST!

All events in this series are for players new(er) to the raiding scene or players that are looking to learn raids better. First timers welcome! Dbags not welcome. Please have sound and be willing and able to follow instructions.

The goal is to welcome newer players into the raiding scene, to teach people how raids work, to get players more comfortable with raids, and to enhance the Sarlona community. There is no level cap for any of our teaching raids.

If you are new to Web, You will need to flag and have access to the Menace of the Underdark expansion. Web requires more quests than any other raid to flag for. There are 11 quests among 3 chains (Eveningstar, Sschindylryn and the Demonweb). It takes some time to flag for Web but there is a lot of really nice loot in the 3 chains as well as the raid!

    Eveningstar chain

Start by talking to Adamor Thellik in southern Eveningstar and do the four quests: Impossible Demands, Unquiet Graves, Lost Thread and Battle for Eveningstar. Turn in the chain to Adamor and then continue to the next chain.

    Sschindylryn chain

Talk to Korrex Dunhaven in northern Eveningstar to pick up the chain. You will need to find your way to Sschindylryn through The Underdark. You can access The Underdark via the cave located in the far south portion of King's Forest. See Underdark link above for a map to get to the entrance of Sschindylryn or check out my video How to Get to Sschindylryn from the Kings Forest. Once you have found Sschindylryn , do the 4 quests: House of Rusted Blades, House of Death Undone, House of Broken Chains and The Portal Opens. Turn in the chain to Korrex to advance to the next chain. Note: finding the Underdark entrance in King's Forest and the Sschindylryn portal and the Riz Malag portal in the Underdark will grant access to new teleport locations from the Eveningstar Cavern portals, which will save a lot of travel time by allowing you to go directly to those locations. I have videos for House of Rusted Blades, House of Death Undone, House of Broken Chains and Portal Opens.

    Demonweb chain

Talk to Xarathas in northern Eveningstar to pick up the chain. Access the Demonweb via the center portal in the Eveningstar cavern. Do the 3 quests: Trial by Fury, Deal and the Demon and Reclaiming the Rift. Once you turn the chain into Xarathas, Elminster will appear near him and will grant the raid. Note: Some of the web strands that connect the islands in the Demonweb change with each instance, so making your way to the quests will take some exploring. Falling off the edge in the Demonweb will randomly teleport you to one of several locations. One of the teleport destinations will take you to the island where Reclaiming the Rift is located. Once you learn the teleport destinations, it will make it easier to navigate to the other quests as well. I have videos for Deal and the Demon and Reclaiming the Rift that discuss how to find the quests and strategies for navigating the Demonweb. I also have a video for Trial by Fury that discusses my preferred path through the quest's confusing map.

Space is limited so reserve your spot ahead of time! If you would like to reserve a space in this Saturday's event, please contact me in game on Gingerspyce. Please make special note that this Saturday's event will take place at 2pm in the afternoon and not our normal evening starting time.

Thanks for all the support and special thanks to DDOCast and DDO Chronicle for mentioning our events. We hope to see you in raids soon!

    Much love,
Gingerspyce and The High Lords of Malkier

Hey Spyce, watched some of your vids, thanks for taking the time to post those. As for the raid event, I didnt see what server its being held on. I assume thats because the post was made on the server forum lol. I normally use the new post tab and thus have no clue where your event will be held~ cheers!

Sarlona. You can see that by looking at the nesting line just below the "New Posts" button and just above the community guidelines link.
It has a Home icon and then > Forum > Servers > Sarlona > High Lords.... blah blah blah
In the new posts list, there 4th column also shows the forum in which a thread is. (1: thread title, 2: number of replies, 3: last post, 4: forum)

    Instructions for CITW:

    1. Run along until you confront some monsters.

    2. Freeze up but keep trying to swing your weapon.

    3. Watch your character skip around from place to place. Sometimes if you jump you can get an view from above.

    4. Hit heal a few times because you might be taking damage but not know it yet.

    5. Somehow manage to finish the fight and move on.

    6. While running along a path, spontaneously teleport to the side about 2 meters and fall to your death.

    7. Catch up to the party and explain that you were just running along and died but it wasn't your fault.

    8. Listen to some understanding grumbling about how frustrating it is.

    9. Complete the dungeon and marvel how we managed to get through despite all that.

    1. DO NOT RUN ALONG. Stay with party and let the ranged characters draw the monsters out. Let the mistresses sacrifice stuff if mistresses are first in your path (excellent advice for the mistress island before 2nd artifact).

    2. Freeze up but keep trying to swing your weapon.
    2. If you freeze, stop trying to swing your weapon. Besides, if you are swinging instead of firing and you are frozen, then you must have gone a step too far.

    3. Watch your character skip around from place to place. Sometimes if you jump you can get an view from above.
    3. Stay with the group, unless you are ana's guardian. In that case, move in small steps backwards. Make sure you're not rubberbanding before the next step.

    4. Hit heal a few times because you might be taking damage but not know it yet.
    4. If you are frozen in place, DO NOT HIT HEAL. Chances are you are the cause of lag and it will go away once you die. So, don't try to delay the inevitable and just die already.

    5. Somehow manage to finish the fight and move on.
    5. Instead of thinking that the fight is over, check the place around you to make sure there are no souls left behind. They can cause insane lag trying to make a path to you once you leave their sight.

    6. While running along a path, spontaneously teleport to the side about 2 meters and fall to your death.

    7. Catch up to the party and explain that you were just running along and died but it wasn't your fault.

    9. Complete the dungeon and marvel how we managed to get through despite all that.
    9. Complete the dungeon and hear the members say "It was a fairly smooth EE run, considering how bad lag can be."

    Cheers

Unless there are fewer raids than I thought, how is this the second raid in the series? Because I did this one with you, but I've noted done the level 30 in in Amarath or Thunderholme, are you doing these in order?

Well, if you want someone to come along, who, I don't think I died last time, I will happily join you.

We've worked through all the raids (except tempest spine) this year and are starting to work through them all again. The order of "round 2" will be a bit different. I'm avoiding raids that lag can have a debilitating effect on, like Defiler and Titan, which would've otherwise been done early in this portion of the series, but hopefully we'll be able to do later in the series. CitW, on the other hand, won't be a big deal to hold together and complete if we see big lag spikes.

I'll mark you down as an alternate if we have space. Generally I don't like to give teaching raid spots to folks that have already done that one with us as a teaching raid, preferring to save spots for new folks

You can't imagine how I felt after we chatted Saturday night about me missing this. **** it, I didn't read everything properly. I just basically logged off after that and watched some **** on youtube, then ETRed the next morning. Ah well. I wish I could have joined you, glad the run went well.
