Default How to revitalize this 10 year old game.

One thing would do it, and it's been said before and I'll say it again. Universal LFMs. This game THRIVES on a good social community, it feeds on it like water to plants. And there is nothing more disheartening than sitting around for a hour waiting for a group.. yes I can solo just about every quest in the game, hell and even some raids. I've been playing it for 10 years now and have 20+ lives on 1 guy... but lots of people don't want to solo, they play this game to play with others and show them neat tricks in the quests etc. I don't know what technical feats need to be made to make this happen, but it needs to happen if this game wants to ever come back. The diehard go-getters are a dying crowd and we need to replace them soon.

    Please define "universal LFM".

Honestly, add Inter-Server LFM's and the ability to teleport to inter-server instances/dungeons with people. That and/or the ability for toons to down-scale (temporarily) to appropriate level of the dungeon and still get full xp upscaled to their level. Other games do both these things and they work very well.

Updating/replacing code to allow the game to be able to be played on a 'Mega Server' (multiple servers in effect become shards of the greater host.) where everyone is on 1 big server platform with more pushover world instances to manage populations....
Other games have embraced this methodology.. http://www.tentonhammer.com/articles...the-megaserver.

    In the meantime..
    1. Fix the lag, players want a near lag free gaming experience. anything less is unacceptable especially to hardcore players who are challenging the most difficult of the at level content where any mistake generally means death.
Every day that passes you lose more players and the longer this takes to resolve the more difficult it will be to bring these same players back as they move off to try other things.
A happy customer tells 2 new friends to come play, an unhappy customer tells everyone they know not to..

    2. continuity of scaling challenge and reward.. these loot revamps DDO has made have trivialized many named items and made many more difficult to attain items worthless/pointless. DDO has screwed/trivialized many items like Chattering Ring and Icy Rainments, Dream Visor with random drops that are twice as good at lower level. loot progression is a core aspect of the game that should of had much better attention and not halfashed.. you cant just revamp random/crafted and ignore named.. all loot needs to be addressed fairly.

High level content.. need more... TR's and low level content are adequately covered.. but these are a means to an end.. endgame content is needed and lots of it...
FR has been too quiet of late..
We have purchased two expansions for FR MOTU and hadowfell... These were expansions.. right.. not just packs....
Expansions take on a life of their own and are supposed to have continuity of release content independent of the core game...
    1. MoTU - We should have a version of the Marketplace in the Underdark as the foothold to massive underdark content and growth
    2. Sahdowfell - we got Wheloon and Stormhorns... wheres the evolution of growth and expansion here of overworld FR content

People already complain about the lag, the lag that would come with inter-server would be a good thing? Sounds like just another form of the question about merging servers.

Guild Wars 2 does this, and it's hella effective. Would give a huge pop to the LFMs.

GW2 migrated their separate worlds to the 'Mega Server' platform.
was a good move on their part.

Your idea came up to my mind too, People from different Servers gathering for LFM-quests on an alternate Server and entering back their Server after recall.

However, the Chance is high this thread turns into a Merge Servers, what we haven´t had for a while ...

Well if universal lfms will happen there's also no reason for no universal ah, asah etc. what in fact will be a server merge. I'm not saying i got anything against, but it's almost the same thing. But honestly there's something else i was thinking about last days and it's connected with "revitalization".

The trick is very simple - move the least popular packs to f2p content. There're few years old packs, run by nobody, with outdated loot and almost nobody is buying them anyway. Good example is restless isles pack (except loot, there're still few interesting items here) - it's impossible to find party not only for streak friendly, but for favor run too. Moving it to f2p can bring a new life into those packs and even veterans with pack bought already can go back to running it when they'll notice there're volunteers to run it.

Some more clarity into my line of thought for this.

Add a Lounge system, once you have accepted a quest you can then join a Lounge for said quest which might even take you to a separate "waiting" instance. Wait here until full/or adequate enough and then everyone can jump into the universal instance from there.

Maybe even just make this for group quests and not raids or wildernesses, so there is some incentive to play with others on your server still. But the bulk of grouping could be done this way and I GREATLY feel that the population would increase drastically if there where more available groups.

    How to revitalize this game?

    One word: rewrite.

Really...because I've heard from MAAAANY new players they have problems getting groups. And yes, of course people play solo on all servers but not as if it's by choice... I think you've a very skewed idea of what's going on in the game currently, just from your signature I can tell you're one of the "Everyone should be as badass as me" types.. who are about 3% of the population. And it's really disheartening to see you on the players counsel.

While I agree they take away from social aspects of the game they have become a necessary evil until Grouping/LFM is addressed.

I'd say the number one reason I want a lounge system is to get rid of the Star aspect. No need for a "leader", just have people join queues for which quest/chain they want to do

I actually like the ability to havw a partner in quests. I play at odd times, without hirelings I would have quit the game years ago.
