    Default Lv 20-30 advice please

    Hey everyone,

So I've played through a couple lives over the past few weeks and relearned DDO after a long absence from the game. I think that my next life will be the life I take to lv 30 for the first time. I want to be effective on some level, so if anyone could answer a few short questions I'd be very appreciative.

    1. What class is best for a newer player learning the high lv ropes. A rogue/fighter/cleric max dps CC healer build might be what all you vets are currently running, but give me something I can handle! I prefer single class because....I just do.

    2. What do parties at these levels actually need? What are people currently not playing, but should be? I don't want to TR into a turn undead specced cleric if there are already 8 of these in each raid (as I am sure there are). I know the answer is whatever I find fun, but I find it most fun to fill the role others are not filling, whatever that might be in a raid/party.

    3. Any other advice you can give? I should mention that my past lives are all over the place as I worked to get a feel for the game. I have Druid, hard, favored soul, and rogue.

Thanks everyone, my time back has been excellent and I've found the Argo community to be welcoming and helpful as I relearn the game.

Eh, only Argonauts are qualified to give advice? Harrumph.

    Erm.

If pure is your thing, Warlock, Rogue (Mechanic), Paladin, and Barbarian are quite strong. Bard also got a revamp and Swashbuckling was popular when its pass happened. I haven't played Tempest after it got updated, but reports are favourable. And Druid's Earthquake is possibly the best CC in the game.

No one says no to 30% trap bonus, so you may have the best time playing Rogue Mechanic. If you have the Harper tree you can also pick up INT-to-hit and make INT your mainstat, which helps with trapping skills and skill points. The thing with Rogue though is that you won't have much innate self-healing (somewhat mitigated by the ranged combat nature of the build) until you pick up Primal Avatar for Cocoon or Divine Crusader's auras. If you're comfy healing yourself UMDing scrolls until then, Mech is a strong choice.

I personally found Warlock boring (hold down left mouse button, zzzzzz), but it is an easy class to play. You can again play it as a ranged character, and it has UMD bonuses and some healing clickies in the class trees.

If playing elite, you might want to shy away from melee classes until you've got a little more experience/gear. They tend to hit hard on EE. I've played both Paladin and Barb and both are pretty fun and survivable. Paladins have Lay on Hands/cure spells, or if Bladeforged, can train Reconstruct in their racial tree. Barbs can train heal-on-kill or passive healing for their restoration needs.
I Cannith-craft (150 levels in all schools) for free on Thelanis if you provide all needed materials.
