Default Opening DDO Store crashes client to desktop

The title says it all. This started happening after the most recent update after having no issues prior to. This is highly annoying as I just got enough credits saved for being a VIP to purchase Favored Soul and the inability to access the store is... most displeasing.

This is a windows XP-related issue that came up when they did some work to remove awesomium processes from the store. I think Cordovan said they're working on it.
DDO: If a problem cannot be solved by the application of DPS, you're not applying enough.

Thanks for the info. Patience isn't my strong suit but for that particular class (and getting fewer Awesomium processes while still being able to work things properly) I would most certainly wait.

Ah, this fits the description of my situation too. I'm really only dabbling with f2p and only wanted to buy an adventure pack or 2. Which is why DDO ended up on my ancient dual core rig running WinXP. I'm certainly in no hurry and can wait until it's fixed.

If someone could clarity for me. When I've found references to DDO Store issues in other threads, I've seen mention of starting the "awesomium_process.exe" app before you launch the DDO client as a potential way to resolve some store issues/crashes. If that's supposed to be indeed doable then that's a problem on my WinXP w/SP3 PC, as that app won't even start even when logged in as a admin user and trying to start it from the command line while in the "Dungeons and Dragons Online" folder. So is that applet/process supposed to be possible to run outside of the DDO Client?

    Default store/xp

This explains one of my problems but it is strange how hidden this post is. I would think it would be listed on the Known Issues page...

Since Microsoft ended support on Windows XP, it is a security risk to use this OS. Turbine should recommend all their users to upgrade. Offering support at all to an End of Life OS is pretty much shooting oneself in the foot.

P.S. I say this because I recommended the company I work for that we also end support on Windows Xp machines, and we have.

XP was a great OS in it's time. I miss it, too.

To those still clinging to it for whatever reason: Google your way to any tech site you trust and see what they have to say about continuing to use XP now.

They will pretty much unanimously say something along the lines that XP users are dancing through a mine field.

It's used more then windows 8, as well as windows 8.1. It's used more then Vista. It's used more then all MAC OS's combined. Windows 10 itself is only marginally used more then windows XP.

Many of us don't have a computer that's capable of running windows 10. And to the many people who I've seen post ( especially on facebook ) saying that by running an XP machine you are encouraging the spread of viruses and malware on the internet.. I keep my computer malware free, and run regular anti-virus checks.

It was a great system, and for my needs it works. When over a third of what you use your computer for is MS word and similar products.. switching from windows XP to windows 10 is not going to make microsoft word load faster, nor is the state of the art DirectX engine going to make it look any more impressive.
