    Default Ddo2

If DDO is still making money, any chance of a new version of the game coming out? DDO2 with Stormreach being an open area instead of each house having its own instance. . Better graphics to reflect the new technology available?

IF DDO is still making money it would not make sense to do DDO2. Usually a sequel comes out to restart revenue. And no, if they do a DDO2 it needs to be in a better setting, not Eberron.

Part of the appeal of DDO for me is specifically the fact that it is instanced. I fear DDO2 will turn in to Neverwinter on-line 2. Not interested in that.

DDO2 would be based on 5E and hold no interest for me.

Eberron does not beat Dark Sun, Hollow World or Greyhawk. Never was fan of Forgotten Realms or Ravensloft.

Plus I say be retro do AD&D 2 rules.

I would rather see continual improvement to DDO than another stand-alone game.

To my mind, Eberron is the best D&D setting around, however it has never had the popularity of say, FR with the big-name authors supporting. It was a risk given that it is quite unusual compared to the very generic Greyhawk/FR world. Dark Sun could be a cool MMO, but again a big risk since it is so divergent from the standard. Mystara/Hollow world likewise generic, but also less supported and thus popular.

They won't be dropping down editions. They're more likely to jump to an MMO conversion of 5th than 2nd edition. Although 5th has similarities with the older editions certainly.

Greyhawk yes and I would love ad&d 1 or 2 darksun would also be ok but sadly don't see it happening

Notice I said that Eberron was better than the wretched realms but didn't mention other worlds actually my fave published world is the Kingdom of Kalamar

I honestly don't think I'd have much interest in DDO2 unless they brought something new to the table like SWTOR-style storyline and character building. I don't mean copy SWTOR's mechanics (blech), but to have heavy investment in story and options along those lines--yeah, I'd go for that.

Something like that could be a lot of fun with the idea of Reincarnation, because you could play through the story in different ways on the same character. Maybe even have some things in there that require odd or obscure collections of abilities, so if you want to hit certain milestones you have to play some peculiar combinations.

Given how MMO sequels are usually not as good as the original... I'm good.

But... I LIKE Eberron. It has airships, living robots, pirates, pirates-turned-city-administrators, magitech, the Daelkyr, Xoriat, mechanical dogs, plus all kinds of things I love to hate. How can you improve on something like that?

Unless it did a better job than SWTOR at grouping and you wouldn't see people doing some of the same things right beside you I would skip it. I dropped out of beta for SWTOR because it was so boring

SWTOR had amazing story and voice over systems. A great game, hell the only game you can draw a good number of similarities to DDO.

Whats amazing about DDO is how different it was from every other MMO. So much choice, so much D&D. Light on story but such amazing character buildies and combat and LFG/guild systems that it blew everyone else out of the water 10 years ago and still does.

A DDO 2 I'd get behind in an INSTANT IF.... the effort was made to keep the DDO feel, and did not feel as bare and over-simplistic as Neverwinter and so many other modern mmos.

Realistically, DDO is our game. There will never be another one like it. Lets play it and support it, and it will be around to entertain us for the foreseeable future.

I thought SWTOR was a fairly good single player game but a terrible MMO

I agree even still better graphics that would be nice.
the problem is the game is a decade old.
in code that's a long time.
since ddo can portal into different worlds keep the old content then add the new code to the new areas
Microsoft word can understand older versions of itself being a stacked program.
this would make the game original in the world of mmo's.
some of the older equipment might not function the same in the new worlds.
but then again that's accepted in DnD.
the real problem it would take some mad programing and a very large committed team to make it happen.
that's cost a lots of real money, but might be cheaper than starting a brand new mmo.
DDO has survived this long because its not scared of change.
that' the games main winning point.

Same here. I don't recommend copying SWTOR down to the ground, but I think that DDO with some kind of real story system could be dynamite, and SWTOR is the only other MMO that I've seen that really has this.

Yeah it has a good story system but felt like a new KOTR to me should have been an offline single player game

5ed with its limitation to magic items don't looks like good fit to MMO, and new game won't be made in old edition.
