[ForgettableNPC]

Just something I wanted to try it out in the Off-Topic chats rather than whenever a downtime runs particularly long.

While normally I just cater to whoever answers first, I want to try something different.
Strawpoll! Link will be provided and whenever I write a response, it'll be based on whatever choice has more votes at that time.
Hopefully we can get lots of people to get things moving along more, or when everyone lost interest in it. One or the other.

It's not the perfect system, but, hey, experiment!
Edit: Since people seem to be voting on the polls that have already been decided, I will now remove them when determining the choice.

Let us begin:

...A sliver of light shines across your eyelids, forcing you awake.
You toss and turn in the sorry excuse for bedding until you fall down face-first onto the cold, stone floor below.
You manage to bring yourself up and do some early morning exercises, as you hear footsteps approaching from the nearby corridor.

"Breakfast."

The man is moderately armed, the clink of metals reverberating through the halls with each step he takes.
He passes a bowl of gruel to you and a piece of bread and some questionably-tasting water.

"Enjoy it while you can, you're on death row scheduled for noon."

He bursts into laughter, filled with satisfaction, and walks off further down the hall.

Judging by the sunrise, you don't have much time.

You have no idea what's going on, but you at least know this:

You need to run.
You need to escape.

Do you:

A) Wait patiently until your execution.
B) Search the room for anything useful.
C) Look for a secret passage out of the prison cell. Most likely behind the bed, prisons always have those.
D) Eat your breakfast.

Weird, it's in the same order for me. (Except for the Results screen, which posts it based on number of votes, I believe.

You realize you can't escape on an empty stomach.
You take up the bowl of gruel and the stale piece of bread.

It's difficult to swallow as you're in a rush, you slightly choke on the piece of bread but wash it down with the water provided for you.

...You feel like you would've fared better if you hadn't took the time to eat breakfast.

Ech.

You lay down the now-empty bowl of gruel and contemplate your next course of action.

Do you:

A) Wait patiently until your execution.
B) Search the room for anything useful.
C) Look for a secret passage out of the cell. Most likely behind the bed, prisons always have those.
D) Play dead.

After a short while of searching, you find a moderately-sized rock and a decently-sized stick.

You also pocket the now-empty glass of water and the now-empty bowl of gruel.

There's also a single bedsheet, but it's torn and worn out, you doubt you can get any use out of it. But beggars can't be choosers.

You hear the sound of footsteps once more, the guard is returning from his morning chore.
You could ambush him as he walks by with whatever you have on hand...or make something to help subdue the guard more effectively.

You could also wait for him to pass and attempt to escape before you are called for your execution.

Do you:

A) Combine your items on hand to create something wonderful.
B) Wait for the guard to pass by again and catch him by surprise.
C) Look for a secret passage.
D) Start digging your way out.
E) Wait patiently until your execution.

You frantically search for a secret passage.

After some montage-inducing searching sequence, you find a secret passage tucked behind a loose slab of stone behind the bed.

Perhaps it was dug by some other prisoner before you, but you have no way to tell.

The guard's footsteps are drawing closer and closer.

Do you:

A) Wait for the guard to come by and ambush/subdue him.
B) Escape already through the secret passage!
C) Both A and B.
D) Wait patiently until your execution.
E) Kindly inform the guard that there's a secret passage that you could use to easily escape from the room, and that someone should probably fix it.

Of course you would eat your breakfast...the only real weapon you have is forcing yourself to spit vomit you force up into the face of the jailer just to take advantage of his shock to get an opportune moment in hitting a vital area while he is busy shirking back or wiping his face.

In the real world...

You hold your worn bedsheets in your hands and tear off a lengthy piece of cloth from it.

You patiently wait for the moment the guard walks by your cell.

He casually strolls past you, whistling, not taking notice of you.

You take advantage of this moment, rush up to the cell bars, reach out and wraps the cloth around his neck in one swift motion and pulls tightly.

The guard chokes and suffocates, banging his hand against the bars to try to make as much noise as possible so that someone may come to his aid.

...

After a moment of struggle, he collapses. You're not sure if he's dead or just fainted.

You hear commotion down the corridor, your scuffle has attracted some of the other guards.

You make a dive for the secret passage, crawling inside it.

The passage is surprisingly roomy, there's enough room to turn and walk, as long as you crouch down far enough.

You take the opportunity to hide the entrance with the stone slab.

It's dark. Hard to see anything. But you can still feel around for a way out.

Do you:

A) Continue down the dark, unlit passage, wherever it may lead.
B) Change your mind and head back into the prison cell.
C) Do something random.
D) Do anything BUT B, really.

You place one of your hand against a wall and travel down the passageway.

A muffled sound of commotion comes from behind you and dies down little by little with each step you take.

You walk for what it feels like an eternity.

After some time you see a sliver of light at the end of the path, rejuvenated, you pick up your pace.

When you reach the exit, you dive without a second thought, overjoyed at the prospect of freedom.

You fall from a slight height and tumble down to the ground below.

Looking back, you see a medium-sized hole in the middle of a cliff side, and beyond that, a city surrounded by thick stone walls.

You've managed to escape.

You're currently in a somewhat forested area. You look to your left and see a much more shady part of the forest. Perhaps it'll be good to lie low there.

There's also a clearing up ahead with a path, you could follow it while getting away from this city as fast and far as possible.

Of course, finding an entrance to the city and going back in to find out why you were there in the first place may also be an option, if a little risky...

Do you:

A) Hide in the forest while you rest and recuperate.
B) Travel as far as possible from the walled city.
C) Walk around until you find an entrance and try to enter the city.
D) Break into a dance number to celebrate your escape!

...but while moving, I'd want to look at the rock & stick and decide it it would make a better rock-on-stick club, or a sharp pointy stick sharped against the stone. Or forget both and find a small straight tree to fashion into a quarterstaff.

Knowing you've caused a lot of commotion by disappearing, you decide to make your way towards the nearby clearing.

You travel down the path, trying to put as much distance between you and the city possible.

You keep walking.

You can no longer see the city you escaped from.

You take the opportunity try to contemplate on why you were imprisoned in the first place.

...Until a monster jumps out from the bushes!
It's a fight!

Though surprised by the ambush, you manage to quickly arm yourself with whatever weapons you can muster.

You equip the [Stick] in your main hand and [Rock] in your off-hand.

You attack using the [Stick]! You hit the Lesser Gray Ooze for 4 damage.
You follow up with the [Rock]! You hit the Lesser Gray Ooze for 2 damage.

The Lesser Gray Ooze attacks! The Lesser Gray Ooze deals 4 damage.

Your [Stick] dissolves on contact.
You lose the [Rock].

It's your turn again.

The Lesser Gray Ooze is defeated!

All that's left of the ooze is a small puddle of its remains.

You feel your hand burn slightly from being in contact with it.

You continue your travel down the road, with nothing but scraps of cloth covering you.

You hear the sounds of a horse-driven carriage not far behind you, perhaps a wagon, made evident by the sound of horseshoes against the earth combined with the minor, annoying sounds of turning axles.

Do you:

A) Run without looking back, it could be your pursuers.
B) Turn around and ask for aid, it could be a friendly merchant.
C) Continue walking with nonchalance, and don't give them any idea that you may be a fugitive.
D) Use the [Bowl] and pretend to be a beggar.
E) Act like a bandit.

Thinking quickly, you take up the bowl, slightly hunch over, and feign an impoverished expression.

You turn around and see a rather humble wagon, a caravan, if anything.

You step aside, making way for the vehicle to pass through, and hold your [Bowl] up like a beggar.

The driver stops for a brief moment, and drops a few Copper coins into your [Bowl], and moves on.

You gain 6 Copper!

You continue walking down the path, as the wagon outpaces you and leaves you behind.

After some time, you see buildings in the distance, not a city like before, but more of a small village, if anything.

It's getting dark. You should find a place to rest.

A village like that should have at least an inn, you presume. Or you could save whatever money you have and sleep outside.

Or you could try to find another option...

Do you:

A) Approach the village. Try to find somewhere to rest.
B) Sleep in a nearby forest, out of sight.
C) See if there's anyone kind enough to let you rest for free.
D) Keep walking around for now, see if an opportunity rises.

You decide to keep wander around aimlessly, without a set goal in mind.

You walk back and forth near the entrance to the village.

After some time, a rather regal-looking carriage stops next to you, and one of its windows slide open ever so slightly.

"You there, peasant. Yes, you, in those rags."

A condescending female voice emanates from a silhouette behind the drapes.

"What's your name? Who are you?"

She asks.

How do you respond?

A) "A fugitive on the run from the law!"
B) "Just a plain ol' beggar, nothing to see here."
C) "An adventurer worthy of the most noble of quests!"
D) "I don't remember."
