    Default Cleric potentials?

    Hey guys- two questions:

How is an evoker cleric faring? It seems like in particular combing Master of Light with Exalted Angel's SLAs mean you don't really need to worry about spell pen or evocation DC items, just WIS which would free up feats. That is, unless you want sunburst to hit. Free heavy armor seems pretty swell too. You'd basically be a laser cannon.
It looks like going T5 in RaS is better regardless, and capstones suck so splashing 1-2 FvS and 1 of whatever else would work pretty well.

Is turn undead easy to make viable? I know you can outright destroy stuff - how well does it work in EEs? I've never tried to build for it or use it in action.

I recently did a couple cleric lives and I had fun with it. Not top-tier but much stronger than I thought it would be, though I never did take it into a raid or ToEE or whatever.

I would advise getting your spell pen and DC's up. At lvl28 I had a Evocation DC of 82 which gave me a no-fail Implosion in all the elite content I ran, but I admit I never stepped foot in some of the highest level stuff like the new Meridia quests. On the other hand, if you look in my sig you can see how far you can pump your DC's, even if you're not completionist Deep Gnome with all gear and whatnot you can expect to reach low 90's DC if you really pump it. Getting a good DC on Greater Command is also really, really nice.

Also Burst of Glacial Wrath is a sexy, sexy spell for epic levels, but if you do take it you can pretty much forget about taking Ruin let alone GRuin. Also, if you're going the DC route you can't take Scion of Celestia, Scion of Air and Scion of Shadowfell are basically your only choices. And if you're aiming for elite content those hits to your DC will basically make it non-functional, you really have to choose between damage (Intensify Spell/Master of Light, Ruin/GRuin, Celestia) or CC/insta-kill's (Embolden Spell, Glacial Wrath, Scion of Air/Shadowfell). But again, it depends on what content you want to run.

Don't get why you think RS Tier5 is better or that the capstone is bad... +2 WIS, Word of Balance which hits pretty hard even without Master of Wilds, and higher CL on your Light spells (and the neg energy ones, this includes your insta-kill IIRC). I'm actually fairly certain that the spellpower you can get from FvS's Scourge won't make up for the +1 CL on Light spells.

No idea on turn undead but I hear it doesn't really work on anything above Normal.

I'm personally waiting for more improvements to casters before I decide on a final life, but if you want to make a Cleric it should work pretty well right now.

There was a DDOcast on clerics some time ago that had a guest than ran a CHA based turn undead cleric specialist. He at the time said with an optimal build/gearset for turning you could turn all the way up to EE three barrel cove. Not sure how that has changed since then though, that DDOcast episode is probably around a year old now or perhaps a little more.

Interesting that you mentioned Greater Command. How is Cleric CC? Viable in heroics? Soundburst is a mass-stun affect. But I dont believe they have any mass holds or charms.

    you lost me at 'cleric'.
cleric is a dead end class.
..hoping the future unannounced cleric pass will bring some divine pacts and breath some life into them..

Caster Cleric is great in mid and high Heroics. Greater Command works nicely. If you want mass charming, you can use Symbol of Persuasion. There's also the alignment spells, they do some damage, plus a CC effec, blind/daze/slow/sicken, depending on version. And don't forget Cometfall, for low-Reflex mobs, plus a great visual and some damage. And it's only single-target, but Hold Person has uses.

Speaking of blind, many updates ago, there was a buff spell that had a no-save mass blind affect. It wasnt advertised with the spell, but it was very strong... so it was ninja nerfed a long time ago.

From [[Holy Aura]]: Wards creatures allies with +4 deflection bonuses to AC, +4 resistance bonuses to saves, and immunity to enchantment and charm spells. Blinds nearby enemies on a failed fortitude save.

Is that the spell you're talking about? It wasn't ninja nerfed... It was broken: Holy Aura now allows spell resistance for both allies and enemies. Success against the buff completely negates it preventing your allies from getting the beneficial parts of the spell (which should never apply to spell resistance).

    Default way back when

so this vid was a while back when cap was 25 i think. I dusted this off ... but I had kinda specced necro a little with some evocation minor ... you can do decent damage (at that time), but very spell point intensive. (kinda a joke now when warlock cleaves can do 3-5k dmg every 5 secs).
