Default If you posted 20+ times in the past 12 hours? that's too much.

No need to name names as you all know who you are. Don't you realize that the deafening roar of your constant posts drown out and BURY many thoughtful and useful posts by people doing testing and playing on Lamma who normally never post in the forums? Don't you realize by now that you have posted so darn much so many times a day that by and large the Developers now just skim over or ignore all two or three dozen posts you feel compelled to make?

Wouldn't it be nice if People said their piece in just a couple concise fact heavy posts and then shut the hell up for a while and waited patiently while others could offer agreement/disagreement/alternatives? God knows it would be better than having to shift through the same **** people posting tiny little volleys back and forth dozens of friggen times on just one bloody page for some mirage of supremacy, all while stifling and drowning out the input of other contributors.

Seriously, shut the hell up. If you can't get your point across and defend your ideas in less then 20 friggen posts your are just posting to hear yourself. And if you insist on the self-gratifying post orgy behavior? Go do it on the general boards where everyone ignore everyone else already and leave the **** Lamma threads alone.

    Thank you for your time.

Clarification: Just to nip this in the bud, before anyone feels the need to claim otherwise I'm not speaking of myself when it comes to being drowned out. Lucky for me I am capable of dealing with the Maelstrom of self-inflated post avalanches that some of our members seem to feel the need to unleash daily. But I am concerned when I have to bloody shift through all the conflated self-promoting garbage to find the few interesting and informative posts the real tester/players are trying to make. Like a friggen prospector panning for gold in a steam-bed of mediocre self-important spam.

The problem of spam goes something like this...

I post something that I don't want "spammed." Someone non-sequitur brings up some silly point. This annoys me because I wanted the purpose of the thread to be x y and z so I get my feelers felt by a dev.
Eventually I realize that it is futile to care. Then I start posting as much as I feel like it! THIS IS A FORUMS!?

    Forum ddo!

I absolutely sympathize with you mate. I'm pretty sure you're calling me out directly. I think you're missing the point. I have had the past day off of work, and have spent all day logged into lamma. I posted some detailed fact heavy posts and then responded to other people in what you might call "spam." Eventually things devolve into something barely related.

If you feel like something is clearly spam report it. You have the power to do that.

gonna highlight this for anyone who didn't want to read an angry rant. good stuff

    ....oh and by the way....
thanks for posting this. its kinda spammy but maybe it will help lol

I think there's much less "spam" and much more discussion than you think

this is a discussion section, less than a bug report tool no?

If you are talking to me. I would argue that a discussion about importance or race (or lack there of) in this game has some merit in the preview thread of an update adding a race. But that's just me. If it derailed a bit there at the end sorry.

Having a "conversation" of 15-20 posts back and forth with very little info in each post is childish and unproductive - and typical for a Friday when those posters know the moderators have gone home. It is no coincidence that this happens during the weekend.

As you post its only purpose is to ruin the thread for any kind of actual debate and annoy most readers. Optimally, posters would state their position / idea and let others post theirs - without the need to restate their opinion every 5 mins just because someone disagrees getting more agitited and less informative with each repetition.

To those doing it - kindly just stop. Take a deep breath and walk away from the thread for a day if you already posted thrice within a few hours and its getting nowhere fast. Much appreciated.

Forums are a social media - ie people do use them for things other than binary purposes.

are some posts irrelevant to the topic of the thread as stated by the original poster? maybe - but threads are living in as much as they evolve and change. If you don't like this factor then don't use the media.

Nope. less than 900 posts in 5 years? not you. I'm talking about the dozens of posts a day crew that are more absorbed with seeing their posts and petty little drama played out publicly than actually engaging in the testing feedback and debate.

    Seriously, dozens. of. posts. daily.

To a degree, I understand where you are coming from. But I don't think the number of posts are really the issue. Since you did not name names (which is proper forum etiquette), we can only guess who you are referring to and what exactly their posts were. There are many cases where a forumite may post 20+ times in a 12 hour period because of responding to multiple threads and the posts of others. there are other times when a person may post only 5 posts and that is really too much.

Your post throws in an arbitrary numerical value as to what is "too much" and uses dramatization and cursing to "make your point." To me, the ranting language of this post is just as bad and just as pointless as the 20 post forumite you are ranting about.

To use your own rating system, would you consider your post to be "concise and fact heavy?"

As I said, I understand where you are coming from, and to some degree I would probably agree. But I think you posted this in a moment of irritation and/or anger and the emotional overflow weakens the effectiveness and message of the post (IMHO).

We don't have limits on how often people post, unless they are posting the same thing over and over or spamming. We understand that it can be annoying to some folks to see particularly vocal posters rack up a large post count, but we don't consider posting activity to be a bad thing. They choose to be actively engaged in the forums, and that's cool. Yes, sometimes people over the years have perhaps attempted to take over debates through frequent posting, but we would rather that be the occasional annoyance than set some kind of limit on how often people can post. You can choose to read and respond to forum posts, so if you feel someone is posting too often, feel free to not read it. You can also add them to your Ignore list if you prefer.

We are good at sorting through feedback, and making sure that frequency of posting doesn't add undue weight to a suggestion or belief.

While the OP was careful to not name names, the "shut the heck up" bit is not appropriate. I will be closing the thread. If someone in the thread has a strong opinion they wish to share with us, feel free to PM me.
