    Windows 10 - Connecting to patch Server 33%. Server Connection timed out.

    Sooo.

    Whats changed, tried to log on late last night and got this error. so said screw it and went to bed.
    Today.

    same error..

    Cant connect...

    Other games work just fine.

    Went to turbine help page.. man.. that layout sucks and is in need of serious revamp and updating..stupid thing kept popping up LOTRO references
    Checked the proxy settings, which is off.
    router works just fine, CSGO, COD, NWN, even minecraft all work just fine..
    even turned off the firewall, (even though I have DDO ports setup )..no change..
    No other helpful options at the Turbine page.. ..
    and no I didn't re-install the game that would be an asinine use of my bandwidth.

    even did a ipconfig /flushdns from the cmd prompt..
    Now I sit.. trolling the forums

    Well did some checking and tried to ping the patch server..

    74.201.102.43 ddo.com ... ping reply..
    74.201.102.13 gls.ddo.com... ping reply..
    74.201.102.43 rss.ddo.com... ping reply..
    74.201.102.43 webvip.ddo.com... ping reply..

    74.201.102.13 gls-auth.ddo.com... ping reply..
    74.201.102.42 forums.ddo.com... ping reply..
    74.201.102.11 serviceengine.turbine.com... ping reply..

    74.201.102.11 patch.ddo.com ... request timed out...

    So... did they move the patch server to a different IP?

    well.. no response from Turbine yet.. so started doing some adjustments.

    Ping patch.ddo.com brought up IP 198.252.160.31

    Which is different than the IP in the hosts file..

    so.. workaround...
    Open with notepad (may have to run as 'the administrator')
    C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
    ~~~
    Change
    74.201.102.11 patch.ddo.com
    to
    #74.201.102.11 patch.ddo.com
    ~~~

    Inserting the '#' in front of the patch server redirect will force theprogram to find by name and not by the predefined ip.

    Another instance to login will pop up.. just close it.. DDO is already logging you in with the first one.

    Was able to finally login ..

    You are awesome! I have had this problem of stuck on patch server for days. Tried all the other solutions and nothing. Followed your advice above and game is now patching properly. Thanks a lot!

    Lammania is not up right now so you can't log into it.

    There is no problem to fix. You can't connect to the patch server because Lamannia, including it's patch server, are down right now.

    As to when it will be back up, last I heard they hope to get out one more update to the game before the end of the year. If that is still the plan we might see Lamannia up again towards the end of this month or the beginning of next month.
