    Default Ranger TWF Feat

    Hi,

I recently started a ranger (for my first time), and unbeknownst to me I found out that I get TWF as a given Feat at level 2. Alas, I had already chosen the TWF Feat at level 1. I have had characters before where I had swapped TWF feats before and had totally ruined my build. So I was wondering whether if I swap the TWF Feat for another, will that remove the TWF Feat that I should have inherited at level 2?

    Thanks,
    Gloe.

I could be wrong (hope I am) but I believe if you have already taken Ranger level 2 there is nothing you cant do other then LR to switch feats. I believe that Two Weapon Fighting will not be on the list of options that fred can swap for you.

    Lesser Reincarnate.
I gave up a life of farming to become an Adventurer.

I've made this mistake before. This is why we need this system updated.

You are the one choosing not to play alts.

Casual player now investing way less than I used to into the game, playing 1-3 months at a time and still want nothing to do with Reaper. #improvepuggrouping#alldifficultiesmatter

    Default feat swap

You can swap 1 feat for free. Try that first before you lesser reincarnate.

If you cannot swap the feat (I'm pretty sure you cannot), and it's a first life character, then just reroll. Don't waste an LR on that. But if it's a second or higher life character, then you either have to LR or accept that you'll have one less feat this life.

Yeah, unless there's a good reason*, just re-reroll and get it right this time.

(* Past Lives would be about the only one. Even if you play slowly, mid-high level is pretty fast to achieve.)

Mail all your gear (that is not Bound to Character) and money to another alt (roll up a temporary one if you have to), re-create the character, and then send it back once s/he hits Stormreach again.

Don't know why this wouldn't work, but if it's not necessary it'd be better to save it for some dealbreaker mistake later in the character build.

    And speaking of "builds"...

Your "joined" date implies you've played 3+ years - do you not plan a character before you start leveling? Especially with the AP tree system, it's extremely easy to paint yourself into a corner, one way or another, and end up with a fatally gimped character.

Under the "Classes" subforums, you can find/ask for build advice that will help you avoid this, even if you don't follow a cookie-cutter blueprint.

Or... even if you don't believe in "planning" at a highly detailed level, maybe just read the Wiki to find out what a new class gets for free, and what feat(s) might be a good/bad plan in general? To avoid exactly this sort of sitch?

    Thankfully, this time you're wrong.

This was easy enough to test: made a lvl 4 ranger who took TWF at lvl 1; did the Hall of Mark quest; then talked to Fred. Feat swap worked fine.

Recommend you pay for the feat swap with flawed dragonshards while it's pretty cheap; save the free feat swap for higher levels.

And remember, kids: proper planning prevents poor performance! Or in this case, bad feat choices.

I don't see it in your second pic, so just to be clear, your character still had the auto-granted two weapon fighting feat after the feat swap?

And agreed, if this works, pay for it with plat. It's cheap at that level.

Yes: it just scrolled off the bottom of the char sheet and I wasn't about to do it a second time.

Understood. Just wanted to be clear. Nice to know this works.
