I had a thought to combine a new type of reward with Risia gameplay. This would be something along the lines of a mega-coin that could spawn at random, hard to reach areas around the Harbor. The mega-coin would only exist for a finite amount of time, long enough to be spotted & then for someone have one shot to make a series of jumps or get into position to reach it.

The person reaching the mega-coin would get an improved reward, such as a random assortment of 5 coins, with 2 of them guaranteed to be purples (or something along those lines, this idea is open for suggestion). But here is the kicker - when the mega-coin is reached by someone, it explodes & rains down a collection of bags that can picked up by anyone, much like the pork barrel does when it detonates.

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Pork_Barrel

The bag rewards could be any of the basic Risia rewards, coins, recipe cards or any other number of items. At first, I thought this would only work over solid ground, but the idea of people snorkeling around the bottom of the Harbor looking for loot sounds pretty funny to me as well.

This might be a good way to grow participation and help newer players (as well as folks who don't jump well) get interested in the event. Thoughts?
"When asked if the developers hate the players, as they make so many challenging jumping puzzles, their response was that they have what they consider a “… normal amount of contempt for the players.” This is good. A dungeon master should always nurse a healthy contempt for his or her players."

Haha, thanks and sorry for that. I was going to mention a Freezing Gale augment gem but saw that you had it :P A friend of mine mentioned Leopard's Chill, so I looked it up and spotted Freezing Ice then looked up Freezing Ice Guard without realizing you had already mentioned both of these. Awesome post by the way

Okay, so here's two more suggestions:

Diamond Augment of Festival Dexterity +2

Topaz Augment of Immunity to Slippery Surfaces

    I thought of a potential location for a mega-coin.

Over above the trainers in the Harbor, there is that crane that is constantly loading and unloading crates. I have always wanted to jump on that crane & take a ride. If there was a landing spot somewhere on that crane that a player had to hit, and then ride the crane until they could jump at just the right moment to nab the mega-coin, that is the sort of challenge that I am envisioning.

I know, those kinds of acrobatics are not for everyone, but when combined with the exploding shower of gift bags, it's something that everyone could benefit from & have some fun with.

Great idea, a challenge to the one's who can time jumps with a chance to become a hero to those that can't...like a Robin Hood of Risia Hmm maybe a board placed nearby to show the heroes names and how many exploding barrels they managed to reach, release and survive

It's probably too much effort for every weapon type but I always thought the crystal/glass weapon/shield material such as that on Mucksbane/doom, Terror, Axe of Adaxus, Crystalline Scepter, and Madstone Shield/Aegis would make a kick-butt Heavy Plate with a wintry theme. I have no idea how to go about photo-shopping an example though. What would the make the best base item? It would also be nice to see this material visually used for some more weapon types. Would make an awesome looking bow for instance, or spear tip, or full-on quarterstaff, what about scimitar/falchion? I could even see a buckler. Dang it... I believe I just gave myself a new project.

Default Frozen Plate (The real thing)

So this is my take on a real Frozen Plate, I used a wiki image of the Epic Emerald Guard as the base item then recolored it to blues, turquoise, teal and silver leaving only some bits on the arms and leather skirting as the original earth tones. Then I used bits from the sword Terror and the shield Madstone Aegis to recolor/re-texture the breastplate, pauldrons, bracers and shin guards with the icy-looking glass material. The spikes on the shoulders came from the Robe of Winter Ice. I have to say this would look so awesome on my half-orc.

Also posted to my cosmetics thread in General Discussions.

    New Weapon Recipes for Lootgen

    1. Icy Blast: rare purple coin turn in for recipe; 500 Motes of Winter (must follow icy burst)
    2. Greater Icy Blast: rare purple coin turn in for recipe; 1000 Motes of winter (must follow Icy Blast)
    3. Freezing Gale
    4. Greater Freezing Gale
    5. Freezing Ice (Minor/Normal/Epic for armors)

All weapon recipes can be performed on red augments as well!

    New Augments
    1. red augment: Avalanche - You occasionally harvest the power of an avalanche x cold damage and x untyped damage from the crushing effects. These would be scalable based on level, with a min level of 16. (via Thalmor)
    2. blue augment: A Blue augment that provides ice guard - provides 1D4 cold damage for a level 4 augment, 2D4 cold damage for a level 8 augment. Upto a max of 7D4 for a level 28 augument. (via Thalmor)
    3. blue augment: Freezing Ice guard
    4. red augment: Freezing Ice; ML 16
    5. Diamond Augment of Festival Dexterity +2 (via kilagan800 here)

All glaciation recipes can be performed on white augments!

A challenge board via Casareena here!

Augments with Risia crafting will stack with lootgen with Risia crafting! (note: this can be problematic; see thread) So if you pull a lootgen with an augment slot, double up on the Risia crafting by adding the Risia effect on the augment you plan to slot as well as the weapon itself!

    New Defensive Recipes
    1. Icy Shield: rare purple coin turn in for recipe; 300 motes of Winter (effect: generates Fire Shield: Cold)
    2. Icy Shield augment: as above, but on a blue augment (via Thunir in this thread)
    3. Freezing Ice Guard (for shields and orbs)
    4. Topaz Augment of Slippery Surface Immunity (via kilagan800 here)

    Stronger summons
    1. Stronger snow elemental (via Nyrvjjn)
    2. A yeti! (via Thalmor)

    Fun Cosmetic Gear
    1. Icy cosmetic gear. Cool winter white gear looks.
    2. White dragon cosmetic gear (not like current armor)
    3. White winter wolf cosmetic pet gear (not like reindeer one)
    4. All white outfit cosmetic gear
    5. Cosmetics with white pelts and antlers! See Maquist's post here!

Earn a permanent companion! See this post from Annex!

From Nonesuch2008: A mega-coin that occasionally spawns and rains down rewards on people below (like a Pinata). See these two posts here and here for more information!

From Erywn--Ice-themed lantern-ring style weapon! Whoa! See post here.

From Aelonwy! Winter hide, Silver Dragon hide, Winter Wolf, Festival Winter Wolf, Frozen Plate

    What else? thoughts?
i agree 100%. been a long time since i could say that.

I just realized, seeing them altogether like that, that essentially I made two light armors (Winter Hide, Winterwolf Hide), a medium armor (Silver Dragon Armor) and a heavy armor (Frozen Plate), not counting the two hoods.

I have always been a big fan of serendipity. It's a nice counterbalance to Murphy's law.

Ok, this isn't so much a new recipe idea as a suggestion to restructure how existing recipes are doled out. I have never been crazy about the fact that higher level coins could end up giving the same reward as a white coin. Would it be crazy to ask that a purple coin only give out purple or blue level rewards? Blues can still give blue or white level rewards, it just seems odd that the best coin available can cough up a Recipe #1 card just as easily as any other card.

When some of these great ideas here are incorporated into next year's event, can we slip this change in as well?

    Hi Saekee!

I think you should consider expanding your thread to include all festivals. Make it a one stop shop for developers looking for festival reward ideas. If that does not work, perhaps you could create a global festival suggestion thread linking to suggestion threads for each specific festival.

Thanks Annex for the suggestion. It is really too late in changing the thread title so I might as well just stay with the focus. There were some other threads going for Night Revels and Crystal Cove, I think.

Yes! Maybe a little later though--late November?

That is true! Well, they will have black coins or something for epic stuff if those are added to make up for new recipes--assuming stuff here is used. I am cynical--I don't expect anything here to be used.

it is that time of year to resurrect our suggestions for Risia recipes with the failing hope of some implementation! Any new additions? I always update the OP. Maybe a filigree set that gives cold damage like the acid one for assassin sentience? Any thoughts?

Wish the devs would comment on this. They don't seem to have any intention of adding to or updating our festivals (other than Mabar which sees pretty regular attention). LotRO gets lots of festival attention. Are ours more difficult to update for some reason?

I know, right? This thread’s ideas are very much community-generated. I would add a filigree set for cold damage: The Wreath of Cold! Add DC stuff to it too, warchanter boosts etc.
