Lantern Ring Confusion

Hi all:

I keep hearing how the ring proc with light spell power but the descriptions do not support this line of thinking. Some say the verbiage is incorrect and has yet to be fixed.

Can a Player Council member or Dev confirm the functionality of this item?

Lantern Rings procure on harmful spellcast (like shirdai procures), so its any sort of spell casting.
I think its possible to get procures off of things like hyponotism or sleet storm?

The Lantern Ring is unique because it is one of the few items in the game that actually scale with spell power.
There is a similar necklace from DoJ, but I am not sure if it scale with spellpower and it competes with the MoD necklace slot.

The Lantern Ring like the necklace from MoD is considered by some to be "best in slot" for true spellcasters.

It's been on the known issue list since the ring was released.

The Lantern Ring's Radiant Glory effect has an incorrect tooltip. The description should read, "On Harmful Spellcast: Do an additional 2 to 12 Light damage. This effect scales with Light Spell Power. Cooldown: 1 second." The upgraded version should read, "On Harmful Spellcast: Do an additional 3 to 18 Light damage. This effect scales with Light Spell Power. Cooldown: 1 second."



(And for future reference a PC member is no more likely to know the answer to your question than anyone else on the forum, except for things that we aren't allowed to tell you anyways. )

To all, thanks for clarifying the description. It confirms what I was assuming. We need more items that scale like this in game. It would solve a few persistent concerns.

I do believe it does proc on eldritch blasts --- so you are correct - light based warlocks in general would enjoy this - plus IIRC it has best in class Radiance Power/Lore of any item.
