    Default 2015 Player Council Redux

    Hey folks,

In the same spirit as the thread made for the 2014 Player Council, I am posting this one with a rough outline of the discussions made during the 2015 year.

The 2014 PC Redux posted by Hafeal can be found here:

    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...at-did-they-do

At the time of posting this the Official Player Council Discussions and Announcements sub-forum contains 79 threads and the General Discussion and Council Feedback sub-forum contains 359 threads. The General Discussion was mostly PC started threads, suggestions, etc. whereas the Official Discussion were threads started by the Dev team that we responded to.

I won't share any material posted by other council members so the General Discussion will just remain a number, The titles of threads from the Official Discussion I will outline to give an idea of the topics discussed and the pacing.

I hope this gives some idea of the feedback requested and the level of involvement for a member of the PC. I do thank past, present and future members of the PC as they take free time to help give feedback to overall improve the game and move it forward. And I thank the Devs for having this type of preview feedback and listening to the players. This post was more the data, the second post I will share how I feel about the PC and being on the team for 2015.

One Final Note: There are some things that the PC are still held to an NDA. So while I, and others would be, happy to discuss some things there are some that we are not yet able to comment on. Please be respectful of this.

Well, that was a lot of factoid posting!

Now just some personal feedback and feeling about being on the council.

Overall, I really enjoyed being on the council. Getting sneak peaks was neat but it was really cool to give feedback and see some things changed; and then read the official post made and read other posters say a certain effect or whatever was nice and be able to think to myself "Yeah I suggested that!" In general it was very cool that the Dev team was responsive to our suggestions. Did they take them all? Absolutely not! LoL! But, they did listen, they did ask us why we thought ways we did and they did change some things based on both the preview feedback the PC gave as well as the feedback gained during open Official Discussion.

I have to say out of any Dev team this game has had. I feel this team has the greatest communication with the player base. I may not agree with every decision or thought process. But I feel they truly do make a real attempt to listen and make a game that caters to the player base they have.

A real highlight of the PC term was to visit Turbine Studio and get behind the scenes. It was really cool to meet the Devs and discuss what they worked on and how they did it and discuss some things about the game; as well as meeting other DDO players and having an overall good time.

Did it feel like work sometimes? Absolutely. For me this may be different than others as I am a restaurant manager. My job doesn't allow me time to surf or post while I am at work (not hating; just saying ). So yes anything I did was on my free time and did some times cut into my play time. However, this was something I volunteered for and have no regrets. Just saying at times it felt like work after work and there were some points where I wasn't able to be as active as I wished I could have been.

Anyways, the sum of it. I did enjoy my time with the PC and would do it again if my RL free time would allow me to do so. It was great getting to know the Devs and other PC members on a different level. The overall tone of PC boards was very different and much more focused and polite.

Thanks again to the Dev Team and to past, present and future PC members!

    /cheers

Hehe, something I got in the habit of doing when making build posts and I know I wanted to split the information between two or more posts and didn't want that information split between other posters posts.

    Anyways, all updated now!

Good job putting that all together. Thanks for accepting and being apart of the team this year. I learned far more about all kinds of details about the game I didn't know. Sorry I missed the Turbine visit, it sounded like it was fun. There are some things we are bound by the NDA, but I too am willing to chat if anyone has questions.

I think the DEV team is very approachable, which is great. I didn't agree with every decision either, but it is impossible toplease 100% of the people at an one time. It was a great year, thanks to the DEV team and fellow PC!

Thanks for putting this together Braegan. And also thanks to all the PC members who took the time to give input this year. It's very interesting as someone on the outside looking in to see what gets discussed and how the experience is.

The devs must really not have liked the 2014 PC, we did not get such an invitation.

Not sure if you can say, but what were some topics that the council more easily agreed on, and what were some topics that had the most disagreement on the council?

Off the top of my head the Ranged Combat/Manyshot/10k Stars was probably the most varied on opinion for sure!

at least that sounds right for the population of the forums, some of us feel manyshot still isn't right. but understandable if people have pros and cons. i just hope they used manyshot allot before to understand
