Now, im confused. The guide said i should pick improved critical ranged and you're suggesting i should take pierce. I already picked up improved critical ranged weapons and the hover tip display on my silver longbow still shows critical roll 18-20. Another guy told me that improved critical ranged weapon doesn't affect the bow itself. I am confused.

the TOOLTIP sometimes doesnt show the correct modifed range, either from feats, or epic destinies or enhancements. Sometimes looking at the inventory screen, with the weapon equipped, and viewing the dropdown area at the bottom will show the correct range, but not always.

Yes, you want to take IC:Ranged. Pierce would be for shortswords, and wouldn't affect bows at all...

The +1 crit range in that screenshot is from DWS Adv Sneak Atk, not from IC:Ranged feat. If you look at the bottom of your inventory screen, you should see the correct crit range displayed (17-20).

I'd guess the fourth core in Deepwood Stalker, "Advanced Sneak Attack", which increases crit range by 1. And is also listed in the enhancements in the pick (under "+1 Critical Threat")

So I've just ran this build, super nice and fun. Holds up to warlocks.

But I noticed you get 20% hidden doubleshot when you go to tier 5 in AA, So with that taken under consideration would it be better to to tier 5 in AA?

Just reset my enhancements and I'm not seeing any bonus in doubleshot until you take the capstone (as expected)

Level 4
Level 4 is fun. You get morphic arrows to give full damage to undead, and more acid damage! You also get Ram's Might, a first level spell, to give you an extra +2 damage. Make sure to add the spell to your book and keep it up at all times.

A single +1 Wisdom item will allow you to prepare level 1 spells. By the time you've hit the level 4 spells you're more than likely to be wearing at least a +4 wisdom item

Drink an owl's wisdom potion. Making sure you have enough wisdom to cast spells shouldn't be a problem, even with no starting points invested in wis.

Exactly. Clickies, equipment, pots, scrolls... so many ways to do this even without tomes or level-ups. And all you need for your whole ranger career is a +2 item to be able to cast Owl's Wisdom to be able to cast L4 spells at cap. And most of them quite cheap (just checked the AH on Thelanis, a Kneeza's Bauble is starting at 1K, and there's an ML5 Prudent 2 Cloak starting at 500 plat with a buyout of 5K... not exactly out of the reach of even the newest newbie)

Nope. You need the correct WIS to prepare them. I just tried before my original reply. All the replies to mine were otherwise correct, but my point is that you don't get Ram's Might *for free* You have to find/buy a WIS item. I haven't yet at lvl 4. I'll go buy one. I have no problem with that. But the OP should be updated...

Level 5
Take Giant as your next favoured enemy here. Ogres and trolls count as giants, and they will be a huge portion of your enemy pool over the next few levels. Your damage is going to start increasing pretty fast at this point, so you may want to consider using a level 5 cleric hireling instead of Frenzy. You should also have metalline arrows at this point. Remember to swap between morphic and metalline arrows based on whether it is an undead/rakshasa or a construct/outsider.

Nupe..... Metalline requires Ranger 6.

Found it. It's coming from Final Strike when Shadow Arrows is active (you didn't mention that bit originally!), it then seems to hang around.

For my play style DWS is still the better option, and I dislike building anything around a possible bug. Which as it only pitches up when shadow arrows is active I am leaning towards it being not WAI.

But you are right it is there.

[*]Use VoM and Mantle of the Worldshaper for true seeing and swap to force arrows when fighting incoporeal creatures to make sure you hit 100% of attacks.
