Ya I figured as much. I really enjoy the ranged combat. I was hoping to do disable and open lock too. I end up soloing most times I play. A ranged character with disable and open lock would be a preference for a build for me.
I was thinking about giving this build a try and was wondering if anyone has tried this build on an Aasimar Scourge using a bow instead of maces?
All the quests are free right now anyways but im not sure if its one of the free map packs or not. Maybe someone can clarify that for you.
You can check most things on the ddowiki.com. Like this page just by searching ddo + Long Bows.
Youre typically looking for a Bow that has a 18-20x3 crit profile. The Bow of Sinew has an extra +1 Crit Damage Multiplier on a roll of 19- 20 which ends up a x5 pretty sweet
You can see all the weapons with non standard crit profiles here https://ddowiki.com/page/Category:We..._crit_profiles
This is a nice bow but you really need a Sustaining Symbiont to overcome the overfocus penalty. The quest it is found in is part of one of the adventure packs you get free with the code DDOfreequests
The Sapphire sting is another nice bow. With lesser human bane, destruction and ranged alacrity. But it is found in the ToEE and can be hard to farm due to the large named item loot table. I have been trying to farm one with all my toons for a while.
Thelanis - Dvinesword, Casterdon, Drandona
“No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.” - Vlad Taltos
Better hurry DDOfreequests time is running out!
I pay no mind to the overfocus penalty but i can see it being a problem for some players. If you have problems searching hidden just switch weapons real quick.
Saphire Sting looks like a nice bow especially early on when your ranged attack speed isnt capped out by the attack animation. There is also the Quiver of Alacrity that can be used at any level.
Thanks Don
Heya people I have a couple of questions...
I read a few things about shot on the run and firstly it seems it doesn’t stack with any other kind of alacrity attack speed bonus..
Also people complain that even with sotr they still get - to attacks while moving...
So to my understanding this feat is either bugged or useless and needs total 3 feats in order to acquire it...
So if what I’m typing is right what feats could I choose instead of dodge, mobility and sotr??
My GF is playing this on her first lifer and loving it. Trying to figure out the best gear setup for her and figure somebody else may have done so.
Trying to maximize the acid damage, so a slavers item, Legendary stone shoes, and a Legendary Burnscar shash. Wallwatch set as well.
Is it worth it or should we abandon the acid damage? We know there are better ranged options, she wants to keep using a bow.

I´m loving this build so far !!
Any way to adapt it to be a trapper too?
Xbow viable with mech?
Not with this build, no.
Most of the AA enhancements specificy "bow", and are not applicable to a crossbow.
You can take a Mech and dive into Ranger 6 for Deepwood Stalker enhancements, but that's s diff build.
Splash a level of Rogue (or, maybe better, Arti) at Level 1. That will lower any Ranger-based DC's by 1, and delay all abilities & spells likewise, but if you can get +30% more XP the leveling will go faster overall.
o Example (not an identical build, but good to use as a model) https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post5793839
Note: The issue of whether to take a 2nd Level of something (for Ranger 18/Trapper 1/X 1) has no clear "best" answer. Especially if just going to 20, you could ignore it (to get Ranger abilities & spells faster as you level) and go Trapper 1/Ranger 19, which would also preserve 1 Ranger-based DC. You could drop in a level of Barb (for +10% run/kiting speed), Fighter (for the Feat), Pali (for ST's), Wiz (for Quicken & Invis SLA), Monk (for the Feat), even Cleric in there, depending on Race and what you're trying to do. Or a 2nd level of trapper to save on Skill Points. Any are valid spins on the core concept.
For that matter, if only going to 20, you really only care about an 18-level build, since you'd only see character levels 19 & 20 for a blink at Level 20 while you farm your tokens. LOTS of options. So once you splash anything you don't see Ranger 18 until then, so you could take a bigger dip into Trapper or Barb or whatever. Ranger 13, Rogue 6 (for skill points and Assassin's Trick), Barb 1 - if not going past 20 (and you don't care about Ranger-based DC's), it's all good.
(Me, I love Barb - speed is so addictive.)

Arti gets you the dog, which is handy. Rogue gets you more skill points to start with, but far more than you can maintain - if Swim/Bluff/Tumble 4 is important to you, do it!
Arti should get you "enough" skill points for Trapping + Haggle 4, and also gets you repeaters, which are stronger than GXB in low heroics. The dog is gravy.
Be sure to plan everything out in advance! This is not a hard build to plan, but it is a complex build to keep track of in your head! You want your Trapping, Feats, and Stats (for Dex 19*) all to fall into place - one mental hiccup and you're screwed. (Been there! )
For your purpose, I recommend this planner: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post5534437 . Support is now irregular and via 3rd party (see latest posts), but you're not using any new-ish classes or trees so the one linked in the OP will work fine. (And most of the builds such as the ones I link above can be copy/imported into it, to save time as a starting point!)
This planner, https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post5982701, is current and far more thorough, but not as intuitive to use nor to clean to view in output, and many of the statistics included are only of concern for end-game (L30) considerations, such as Dodge/PRR caps etc. Recommended for the serious end-game fine-tuner.
(* Most Trapper builds are Int builds, for the skill points and to feed Search & Disable. You want Int "as high as possible", and that includes level-ups, and Con 14, natch. However, you also eventually want(!) Dex 19 from your Core stats + Level ups + Tomes, for Improved Precise Shot (and Dex 21 if going to Epics for Combat Archery). A +2 Dex Tome makes this easier - starting Dex 17 +2 Tome = 19, done. If you don't have one, you may have to make Dex & Int both 16-17 or so, and use 1 or more Level-ups to get your Dex to 19, and let Int take the hit (on your first life, anyway), until you get that +2 Dex Tome. If it's a toss up, go Int first (for the skill points) and level up Dex only just before you can take IPS (which is gated by BAB). Any questions, just ask, and/or post your build in a diff thread for critique. GL!)

I wonder what the gearset for this build would look like for Sharn/Feywild gear. I'm currently about to hit 30 on it, and man were epics a struggle on this build (Admittedly, I'm mostly solo when I play).
Really fun build, thank you for posting it. I ended up running as a Shadar-Kai. I adapted the build to be 18 ranger/1 fighter/1 rogue - this was largely beneficial as my guild typically is short on trappers so I ended up serving that purpose as well, and dps needs weren't as high with them whacking monsters.
It's true the DPS starts to taper off in epics. I ended up going from 20 -> 30 three times, which was more than I expected to do. If you're having trouble with DPS, run in fury of the wild and spam the adrenaline shots as much as you can - it does huge damage, especially if you have doubleshot cranked up as high as you can!
I wanted to get this build to 20 before the great bow change of '21 hits the servers as I am really liking it.
Dagon Thaar (Herald of Dagon)
So just recently came back to DDO and been playing a standard Barbarian build for melee and wanna try my hand at range. Can anyone give me some examples of gear to look out for while leveling a first life? I have no plat or gear to fall back on and its been since 2010 since I played last and I am on a fresh server.
I have pretty much read this entire thread and most of comments and I think I would really enjoy this build, but a lot of the terminology is overwhelming and taxing on my brain lol. Typically not a min/maxer and I will probably TR at 20 on this build based on the fact most people says its not really built for epics, at least to me that is the perceived thought process.
Also, when people say this built stacks with spellpower do they mean, spellpower in general, acid spell power, universal spell power? I think I read in the comments that acid lore does nothing for this build? But yea if anyone could link me some examples of gear to look out for would greatly appreciate it. I could even go on discord if anyone would rather help me there.
Lastly, this silver longbow, what is the absolute minimum level to try and go for this if done solo with self found gear? I play on Kyhber if anyone would rather chat me up in game.
Thank you!
