Default Help an alt get ready for Legendary Content

I tend to pop in and play every couple of months, but my main won't be ready for lvl 30 any time soon.

Slarden mentioned dusting off an alt and using them, so what do you all think I need to be ready?

Currently Komat (20/8 Half-Orc Barbarian) is my best option.

He has no past lives, and has not maxed destinies, but I think LD/FOTW are maxed.

Main things he has going for him are Silver Flame pots and ESOS.

What does Sarlona recommend for him gear wise? I don't even think I've looked at his enhancements in a long time either.

Mostly I'm looking for the old "bare minimum" stats/gear/build that a barb should have.

im neither a sarlonian nor did i sneak a look at the new stuff on lama land but i'd say probably look at getting thunderfoged stuff, and the epic things from the archons trial pack are pretty good comparatively from what i understand.

could also look at farming epic ToEE for an armor + weapon to get the set bonus ( +20 melee/ranged/spell power )

Thanks for the reply. Thunderforged is not a common raid on Sarlona unfortunately. I'm really looking for the cheapest/easiest options. A pauper build if you will.

Archons seems legit though. Also, I have some lvl 28 gear from Eorchard. Whats a good armor to go after? I think medium is still a good option for barbs right?

whatever that named medium armor you can get from Eorchard is, would be a good one, you could also go about making shadow dragon armor if you can find the scales for purchase on the auction house, thats how i did mine on khyber.

and the epic ToEE armor is fairly decent as well

epic armors gives 150 fort, lesser displacement absorbtion 30% to a specific element and +12 resistsance bonus, and you can sometimes find the armors on teh auction house as well.

Barbarian is a great alt for raiding as you don't need much gear to get it going.

Alot of people say eSOS is still very competitive with other weapons at 30, so you can get going with that weapon.

I've seen several barbs dual wielding these for additional healing along with blood strength and great barbarian healing amp. but that requires a min dex of 17 by level 15 to pick up improved twf and greater twf.

for thf alot of people use - including people that used to use eSos so at least they prefer it.

Iron mitts from 3bc wilderness is great for healing amp and vitality. You can definitely get solid PRR/MRR with the new random loot. Same with strength, con and hp. If you get the U28 boots and bracers it gives you +4 ins str and +2 quality str for set bonus. Mentau goggles are great seeker + ghostly. That is some good gear to start with anyhow.

There are some great barbarians on Sarlona but I don't think I am allowed to list the names without permission per the forum rules. One common build is frenzied berzerker tier 4 + Capstone and ravager tier 5 for the crits, knockdown immunity and blood strength. I believe that uses 79 of your 80 AP.

With the 5 fate points you get at 30 you will have enough for 4 tier 1 twists and fury has some good things to twist in if you run in LD. Most barbarians seem to prefer LD - I prefer that with my barbarian.

Good luck, if you need any gear please let me know and I will be happy to run the quest and pass the gear if I get it.

For armor some prefer to take heavy armor proficiency and use the TF armor with shadow guardian (doesn't require running raid -it requires coms, ingots and shadow scales). Others prefer medium for the extra 10 MRR. As mentioned the TOEE armor is really good with the 25% displacement. Displacement clickies are a pain for a barbarian due to rage, but I would probably go with random loot and instead use this necklace for lesser displacement if you don't already have the mushrooms:

We saw several of these drop yesterday when helping a guildy get rod of mythant, but of course when trying to find the necklace you will probably see alot of rods instead.

The orchard armor and even random loot is also really good and it seems either to find high con stat on armors than other places. Some of my characters are moving to random loot armor.

You will be able to find con +12/+13 items fairly easy. +14 are harder to find and +15 I believe is rare. +6 insightful seems very rare to me which is why the U28 boots/glove set is a good place to start.

I have read the posts and appreciate the replies. I'm actually pretty excited overall about the new content. The timing of the point sale will help get my main back to playable a little faster as well.

I was super disappointed when leveling Komat as he doesn't have enough destinies maxed out to qualify for good epic feats lol. I honestly never noticed since Secondlife has had ED's maxed for a long time now.
