Wouldn't say I am going strong but I have hit 14 and a half; the list of low risk quests looks decidedly thin for the next few levels. At the same time I can see my playing time starting to run out...

That sinking feeling you get when you realise you're not as good as you think you are can come on quite quick!

DNRargh has arrived on the scene, a half-orc ranger who thinks it's not how well you aim, but how far back you can pull the string...

DnrBoss soloing (with a hire) the Crucible, runs afoul of gnoll casters above a maze. A little sleet storm, a little lag, equals a big fat death.

Really upsetting, the build was working really well. Gear farming netted really nice gear for a stalwart/vanguard/swashy. Swashbuckling + cleaves + Sting was like a blender chewing up smoothies. 65 AC, 65 prr, 39 reflex + evasion made it very resilient, but lag makes gimps of us all.

So DnrBoss is dead at lvl16 8brd/8ftr/2rog... rest in peace!

well it was a good run but a short life, was double chomped on buy a champ black wolf in the captives quest out in cerulean hills.
DNRstrangr V Three'O died heroically at the ripe young age of level 5 2nd life.

DNRNotInTheFace has made it to level 11.....not to shabby for a dagger wielding rogue....still running everything on Hard with a hire.....Finished the Fens to get 11...stood there at the end of the quest contemplating going into the pit with the demon.....aaaaand chickened out. It shouldn't have been that difficult on hard but I had no DR breaking (couldn't even remember what the DR was but had no metalline, cold iron or silver weapons) and had run out of the House P buffs for Fire resistance....so discretion being the better part of valor I slunk away into the night to claim my end reward (a nice little ring of venom).....

Keep on rolling folks.

Chugging along DNRNotInTheFace is now to Level 12 - finished the CO6 chain to get my FF trinket and then headed to VON chain to get some bank space. Still soloing on Hard - as a TWF thief/ranger.

Had some close calls in VoN 2/3 with the beholders. Not having any spell absorption is painful (not hitting threnal if I can help it) with beholders and as a rogue I have been avoiding Necro quests but that necklace can be a life saver.

On to the desert methinks.

DNRNotInTheFace - now to Level 12.5 - I took a detour on the way to the desert to run Framework for the Snakeskin Vest (best leather armour up to dragonscale) got lucky with it dropping in the end chest (Dora was happy I was so sneaky).

Then I realized if I had that on I needed something else to give me deathblock.....so off to Necro 2 (still decent XP and not too bad on Hard even if I am a rogue). It got dicey at one point as I got a champ named in Shadow King and was down to a sliver from a MM spray - time to bunnyhop around and chug pots.....But survived and finished....haven't done shadow crypt yet to get the deathblock.....now trying to figure out if I can get a weapon that will damage the Vampire........

Didn't I see you in a group a day or so ago at level 18? Did you decide to keep the character or did you start again?

Sitting at 17 and becoming a real grind. Wondered where the competition was?

Well I no longer really need to know - dnrarkle dead at lvl 18, ignominiously killed by shadows while exploring the saomi gardens; not even as though I was going to get more than a couple thousand xp from the explorers so why did I go and activate the shrines?

I suspect killed by shadows strength drain, didn't realise that if they drain you to 0 strength you die, like a death spell, -10 hp.

Born today, December 19th at about 1:30 pm Pacific time. DNRFecus, began life as a monk, with an eye toward becoming a druid.

[a bunch of] characters started:
DNRSoulshard - f2p test character. Not likely to increase much.
DNRObsolete - premium (bb runs not part of the plan). Carefully wimpedout through Korthos, now on to Stormreach.
DNRObsolete - Mark 1 died after not realizing the difference in elite. Starting Mark 2
DNRHalfway There - 2nd f2p test character (human pale trapper). Wound up joining a party and swept past DNRObsolete mark 1.
DNRObsolete - Mark 2 died level 7. Selling things off and trying to buy an airship for DNRPermadeath guild on his own now.
DNRObsoleter (mark 3) died level 5. Finally hit a lag death (note lag likely due to Verizon, but it was silly to play on a launch day).

Note that DNRObsoleter was an interesting character. A warforged sorcerer built with max strength and dumped constitution, he should have quickly become quite gimped, but I didn't recall any prohibitions on using the host-given heart of wood. Presumably he would have been reborn with max charisma and a much higher constitution, but such things hadn't been a problem (and would soon be even less of a problem with a melf's acid SLA).

Not sure if I'll start up another one.

[update] Obsolete[r] mark 4 is a warforged artificer (yes I'm wimping out. No, I haven't even gotten to that valley where the repeater is no longer king, but before blade barrier). Unfortunately I am also premium, which makes running too much normal (and no real BB) boring.
(Obsolete is currently acting as a mule for his and mark 3's stuff. [Mark 2] liquidated most of the stuff to 150k plat (note that this is only loot that was in the bank or carrying at death. He didn't use the AH at all while "alive"). Will delete when I know what the stuff is worth (presumably jack, after the new lootgen insanity).

Lucky - 13 - DNRNotInTheFace - is one step closer to greatness.....finally got my stuff together and have assassinate - oh sweat father time that is so nice to get - you - you must die - aaaaaand-sneaksneaksneak..... you do.

I then went directly into Relic of the Sov. Past......got my nightforge stiletto - with T5 dagger competence bonus it is a 13-20 crit range sweet....I do damage even when not sneaking.

Now to find some assassinate boosts I can afford (AH is too rich for my blood so far) but my base DC of 28 isn't horrible.

You can't use the AH anyway (rule number 3)

welcome to the party, if you pull a tome or a potion or you buy one from the ah you can use them but you can not buy the from the ddo store.

As this is the challenge giver then I think using the AH is ok

Death comes to all that seek it......I assassinated my way through the first 6 orcs in Feast or Famine then ran into Noguk and a champion - soundburst stun...unresponsive hire and kadonkadonkadead......

Level 13.1....**** - I thought i had a chance to reach cap.

It was fun, challenging and a fresh change of pace from facerolling content with no consequences.

Dnrshattira mark 2 or 3 made it to level 21 with 655000 epic xp.
Was unable to get anywhere near it despite about 6 more attempts lol.
