It's always a shame when the hammer of poor design choices smashes the fun of player tactical adaptation.

    No.

There is no up-side I can see and a clear potential for a down-side.

Changing this policy would involve more than a community vote; we'd need to get in touch with various groups within the corporate structure for approval, and there's no guarantee that approval would happen. That said, I'd like to get a sense from the community on their desires - would you like to see a change in policy?

If it relates to DDO, like a fan-made MyDDO where you can search inventory/bank across all characters, manage auctions, etc. then yeah, I don't mind them asking for support.

But a fundraiser to eat potato salad? No thank you.

    so yes for turbine

no for anyone who doesn't work for them.

Edit- i want to mention that the fans have helped many games movies etc about things they loved. so if a campaign ran by turbine doing something like an expansion and we got to help and make some decisions for it then i would be game for things like that. those campaigns are used for various purposes. touching games, finishing adding more things. etc.

Still thinking of donating for Cordovan's moustache campaign this year, but sick and tired of having to turn my real phone ring off due to telemarketers...

There are more appropriate forums than this for those types of efforts.

I also vote "no". The Turbine staff (probably Cordovan) don't need yet another thing to have to keep a close eye on.

The poll remains open for a little less than a week, but the sentiment of the community seems pretty clear. This was motivated by someone's reaction to the Movember campaign, combined with the occasional PM I get from DDO players who'd like to get the word out about their kickstarter or other effort. The policy will remain, unless we get a significantly different response in the coming days.

If it something that is supported by Turbine/Warner Brothers then that is fine imho (such as Movember) but for anything else please take it elsewhere. Kickstarter campaigns are everywhere these days many of which are very good but this forum is not the place to find them.

Movember campaign, or something Turbine chooses to support as community outreach is fine.

Stuff submitted by other players.... generally, no. The only exception I can see is if a player is going through a hard time (cancer, disaster).... perhaps a GoFundMe on their server's homepage.

But no... I don't want to buy your hand-carved dwarf on Etsy, or fund your amazing sandbox game.
