AA or DWS Capstone?

Levelling my Ranger back up at the moment and trying to figure out which is going to be the better fit.

20% Doubleshot vs 20 Ranged Power + always in PBS/SA range.

Already know I'm going T5 in DWS but not sure which capstone to grab.

Leaning towards DWS but unsure at the moment..

I'm afraid you have to provide some additional info... May I guess you're going for pure archer ranger? No splashes? No melee/ranged hybrids?
I'd pile on doubleshot. Between AA Capstone, DWS T5, Killer, past lives, epic destiny feats, and gear you can easily get almost to 100% base doubleshot, and Ranged Power should not be a problem, especially if you plan to blitz.

I've updated my elven ranger thread and tried to grapple with this issue myself. My hunch is AA capstone is better for full-time archer, but APs are pretty tight; you're almost "locked" into 41 AA / 39 DWS split if you want T5 DWS. And if you go 41 APs DWS 31 APs AA (Shadow Arrows), that leaves 8 APs free for, say, Tempest so you can perk up your melee DPS a bit as a backup; or invest in Harper for KtA + Versatile Adept (extra Ranged / Melee Power). EDIT: human rgr can do 1 AP for Dmg Boost 7 APs Harper for KtA.

EDIT: I think the deciding factor is whether AA capstone pushes you past 200% Doubleshot while Manyshot is active; if it does, then I would definitely want that for guaranteed double-procs minimum from MS.

Speculation, but PBS (double damage) + SA (scales with Ranged Power, I think) + 20 Ranged Power (which is multiplicative) should be more DPS than 20% Double Shot. Then again, gear and PL's may be the deciding factor.

Easy answer is if your aim is to do 6+ dice (my toon does 9 dice) of sneak damage + any other sources of sneak damage, go for the DWS capstone.

If you don't care much about the sneak attack dice damage, go with the AA capstone.

IMO the real question is related to AP spent in tree. Stalker has a lot of good stuff you can easily get it to 41 points and want a bit more. That's not the case for AA especially if you don't take any tier 5's.

As it stands right now, I'd go with DWS for the PBS/SA. However, remember that the revamp of the AA tree is NOT finished yet.

Uhh, PBS doesn't do "double damage," it adds +1[W] to your base dmg, which is +4.5 per hit avg with most longbows (+7 w/Pinion).
