Unhappy Why does it all have to disappear?

After grinding FOREVER to get keys to then be able to do each quest twice, in which I only get 15 ingredients from doing it at level or 17 doing it one level higher, I feel it is just wrong to make all of that work disappear at the end of the year. At this rate, and if I don't have time like millions of other players do to grind 24/7 for the items I need, I should be able to keep what I have worked for. Granted, I can ensure my grinding of keys don't go to waste by making sure I use them all up, but in 3-4 hours of playing, I got 4 keys, used 4 free keys, and got a total of 32 ingredients of each type. I didn't even have enough chocolates by the end to be able to trade in for a draught of midnight.

Please don't tell me that I need to be a certain type of player...I need to do raid groups, buy ddo store items, play a certain way. Events should be made for every type of player. Those that want to grind and sell to make money can do their thing, those that want to grind to get mats and make items can do theirs. Those that have very little time to play, and are willing to save onto mats for years in order to finally get an item, should be allowed to choose to do so.

I like the challenges, fast and simple. I hate the key drop rate, and wish we could trade in chocolates for keys. I like that there is no timer, except the time it takes to get keys.

PLEASE just let me keep what I worked for!

I am curious as to his as well, i understand why they are doing it, but it seems to suggest that this is a one off.
If it's not a one off event then that means when it comes around next year we have to start again.

If they disappear at the end of the year, does this mean that the vendor will still be available after the event has closed? (which would be nice)
If the vendor is not available after the event closes, then why not just get rid of the mats as soon as the event ends? (unless they plan to run it a few times before the end of the year)

Strange circumstances, would like to hear from a Dev in regards to what their long term plans are for the event.

But as middle ground the devs cold make the keys permanent. so you can do the math and only use the key if you have the amount to make your item (with max mats per run - 23 -, you can buy any augments with 16 keys,as example).

Edit: but the the problem will be the keys only stack to 10 and dont go in bags

I'll bet it has something to do with certain things that inevitably get broken during updates, and the people that take advantage of unintended features that arise from said broken things... Dupers will dupe unless there is nothing to dupe.

The original Night Revels items are ridiculously cheap and easy to get. Just a few hours. The quests are super fast and give great exp. The only gate is keys... so you have to work for a few hours (anytime over the next 10 days) to get them.

The original intent was for an easy event with some fun "spooky" items that were temporary...

People complained that they wanted access to the old Mabar items, so the devs threw them in... That was not intended from the start.

THOSE are things that take a lot of "grinding", so that's why people feel it's unfair to make the ingrediants temporary... but understand they weren't planned to be in there when this event was designed.

The key drop rate is based around getting a few spooky items fairly easily, not building out three level 24 Mabar cloaks.

It is like going to a museum and bragging about how fast you made it through. Or bragging about how fast you finished a good steak.
