Default Anyone else having problems updating the game/starting?

On both mine and my fiance's computer, it gets to 55%, then fails. It waits a minute, tries again, then promptly fails.

    Any help? =(

It goes to update files, then fails, and says "Unkown error: 0xffffffff80043038"

It gets to the point where Windows asks if it's okay if DDO makes changes to the computer. I click yes, then the client appears to restart. Then it fails at 55% and tries again every 60 seconds.

It only asks me for permission once. It only restarts the client once.

I tried turning off that setting on windows, and it does behaves the exact same, minus asking permission to modify things.

It's rather frustrating not being able to play =(

Do you need to run as admin?

Is your directory that Turbine in a PUBLIC directory or a Private directory?

I tried running as admin. The only difference is that it asked permission to modify the computer first, did not restart the client, but gets hung up at the same spot.

How do I see if it's a public or private directory?

Bummer, meant to say HIDDEN. Brain is getting old.

Open Computer and go to the folder that contains the directory Turbine is in.

Right click on the folder for Properties. Look at the bottom.

    Is it flagged as Hidden?
Is it flagged as Read Only?

    No. Neither.

    It's a normal folder.

On the Launcher Mune, in the upper right there are some small buttons.

The Options BUTTON(I call it the down arrow)

On mine I allow Akamai Netsession for initial file downloads that means my box is checked.

    Do you block Akamai?

I take that back... double checked, and it is read-only. I uncheck the box, confirm all items in the folder no longer read only, then click apply, but every time I go back to change it's read only again.

That means you installed into one of those Microsoft Folders. Since you have been able to update there before I say leave it as it is.

I noticed Turbine did this to me on my test laptop, I uninstalled and then installed into the C:\Program Files(x86) directory.

I checked your post, didn't see anything anywhere in what I've done about akami, on permissions or otherwise.

    Back to the Options MENU

    On the PROXY TAB

Click No Proxy PRESS OK, and try.

Click Use the System Proxy Setting PRESS OK and try.

Mine is Use the System Proxy Settings but Turbine has had problems with this in the past.

    My last idea

Copy your current UserPreferences.ini File located here

C:\Users\<your directory on your machine>\Documents\Dungeons and Dragons Online

    I call it UserPreferencesOCT15.ini

Once you have it copied, DELETE the ORIGINAL file.

Retry installing and have everything set to what you originally had on the options menu.
